The prohibition of Maurijuana has-is- and will continue to fail our society's normative standards as to that which should be called a crime. Despite the fact that marijuana arrests have escalated from less than a third of all drug arrests to more than half in the past 30years ( since General Buhari Military Regime ), usage - importing and trafficking rate is still on the rise. Over 40 percent of Nigerians ( youths in emphasis) have tried marijuana at some point in their lives, and millions are current users. Clearly, the threat of arrest does little to dissuade, despite its enormous costs both to the individual and to our criminal justice system. Perhaps it even entices with its allure of forbidden fruit.
A move for the passage of a Bill to Legalise Maurijuana in our country nigeria, is o ne that will draw criticisms and viewed through a myopic lense from all Angle of the nation— Religious leaders, So Cultural leaders, Senators, Moral activist, Political Antagonist and likes. These criticisms will be biased as Nigerians like to leave in that era of pretence that they are morally upright as compared to the western world.
We hae three divides of people on National Opinios; Those who dont know about a polutical issue but will follow the opposition, Those who are knowledgeable and those who are knowledgeable but for partisanship will be on another side of the divide. To these divides comes the Aim of my article

Aim of Article:
To let Nigerians see the several benefits of Marijuana and why it should be legalize by the General Muhammad Buhari Adminstration.

Benefits of Marijuana/ Cannabis and How it will be of Benefits to Buhari's adminstration

1. Source of Revenue for the Buhari Government:
If Marijuana is legalized by the GMB adminstration, it will be a second large source of income to our dear nation. This will be a big plus for us as it will go a long way in reducing the over reliance and dependency on Oil. It will also serve as a good source for revenue. Take examples of places where Maurijuan has been legalised, let's see how they raked in Millions of dollars.

In Colarado, a state in the U.S with a population of 5,355,866 People which is not Up to Kano, $700million was realised , in the year 2014 alone from the Legalized Sales of Marijuana. Now imagine A state in Nigeria generating let's say $300Million Dollars Annually from the sale of Marijuana that becomes.
$300 Million *200 (exchange rate ) = N60 Billion Naira ( This is One -fifth of Lagos State Budget for 2014 generated through sales of Cannabis by the government for a State only)
Sales for 12 States= N60Billion * 36 = N2.16 Trillion. This is Half of Nigeria's budget for 2014 which is pegged at N4.16Trillion.
You can see this will address Barcanista question as to how funds can be generated by the incoming government for paying the old citizens in phases.

NDLEA Scrapped and Tax payers Money Channeled to another sector of the economy. This will be possible.

2. Health Benefits
The health benefits of Marijuana is so much, Little wonder as to Why Late. Dr. Dora Akunyili and Prof. Akuyo write a joint book called " Marijuana the wonder plant". Below are some list of benefits, note that the list is limited not exhaustive,
Marijuana is use to treat glaucoma, used to reverse the carcinogenic effects of tobacco and improve lung health, control epileptic seizures, used to control epileptic seizures, marijuana stops cancer from spreading through use of the chemical component CBD, it decreases anxiety, THC in Maurijuana slows the progression of Alzheimer's disease, It lessens side effects from treating hepatitis C and increases treatment effectiveness, treats inflammatory bowel diseases ( something of this nature happened to someone on nairaland can't recall. But he lost his life, if marijuana was legalized he might have survived ), marijuan triggers creativity in the brain, Marijuana protects the brain after a stroke, Marijuana can help people trying to cut back on drinking. If I go on listing the benefits of maurijuana I will end up having pages over and over.
Now if General Buhari legalizes marijuana with all the above little listed benefits, it will be a big plus to the health Sector in the country.

3. JOBS
The legalization of marijuana, will create more jobs. Practical example is Colorado, United States where Legalization of Marijuana created 10,000 Jobs. Now if Marijuana is legalized in the whole of Nigeria we can say we will have 10,000*36= 360,000 Jobs created by the General Muhammad Buhari Adminstration in the First 100days of his adminstration provided he legalizes marijuana within the first 100days. This is a big plus for his administration and Image.

4. Infrastructural Developments
This is a measure of progression in the environment of a place. Marijuana is highly used in the construction sector to create carbon, Negative building materials. House all over the western world are been built using this technology. We implementing this will be a plus for the General Muhammad Ministry of Works.

5. Bio-Fuel , Food.
Marijuana can be used as Bio-fuel. If General approves this it would a long way in reducing the nation depence on Oil as source of fuel. This will also be a boost to the automobile industry, imagine a Nigeria where Innoson motors build Motors that use Bio-Fuel, hereby enabling we to abide by the Global warming regulations. This will boost our international Image. Also attract investors. Marijuana is also a source of Food.
From the above it can be seen that the Legalizing of Maurijauna by the General Muhammadu Buhari Adminstration will be a big plus to not only his adminstration but to us as Nigerians and our economy at Large.

In Conclusion, I do like to believe that you will understand me as to how surprising it is to see how, much prominence has been thrown on the Gay / Homosexual rights than to the right to consume a totally NON-ADDICTIVE Hallucinogen and why you should be flabbergasted that Cigarettes, Alcohol, LCD that has no Pharmacological benefits is been openly retailed worldwide despite being implicated in almost all cancer to the Human Body.

Sir. General Muhammad Buhari. Please consider my request and I pray you tender this before your cabinet.

Wish you the Best!
Wish the APC the best!
Wish Nigerians the Best!

This Trash bill won't see the light of the day. It's like asking the government to legalize gun usage in Nigeria. You need to understand that our control systems are not in place, and there is nothing that makes marijuana usage necessary here. You have ciggerates if you want to smoke and feel funky, don't copy western addictions and expect them to be adopted here. Well, apart from that, not all states abroad legalize marijuana. You make it sound like its legal everywhere, no, you're misinforming people by that. In fact, by US Federal law, use of marijuana is illegal, but the US also passed a law that states who want to legalize it for recreational or medical use can do so; Only Washington, Colorado, Alaska and Oregon have fully legalized its use and there are procedures before legalization, like control systems must be in place, this is a long time thing in Nigeria for now.

To say that marijuana isn't addictive is wrong.... The thing about marijuana addiction is some people, even though they're addicted can do fine with it for many many years before they start to have difficultly, but eventually the high starts wearing off, people start smoking a lot more to try to get that high back and that's when they descend into difficulties. When people are addicted to cannabis, cocaine and alcohol the one they have the most difficult time giving up is the cannabis. It is extremely addictive...for some people. It's not very addictive for many people.

Amsterdam is the most famous place across the world that has effectively legalized pot. It has even turned into a tourist destination for potheads. Legalizing weed hasnt been such a success there.

Its citizens are now alarmed that their children are increasingly being exposed to it.

Amsterdam today became the first city in the Netherlands to ban students from smoking marijuana at school.

Marijuana is widely available in Holland as, although it is technically illegal, police can't prosecute people for possession of small amounts.

But it has also had the unwanted side effect that Dutch children are frequently exposed to the drug in public areas.

So, Would you want to live in a neighborhood filled with people who regularly smoke marijuana? Would you want your kids regularly smoking pots?

Ymodulus the last person on earth, who will ever entertain the notion of legalizing weed, would be a retired soldier in his seventies.

I would not be in the least bit surprised to hear in due course about special task forces set up by the new Buhari government for the purpose of rounding up weed smokers and shooting them dead in batches.

Your request for Buhari to endorse legal weed smoking will be about as successful as if you were to file a request with the Pope to bless your condom before you embark on an evening of vigorous consultation with hookers in a sleazy motel.

 Additional Revenue to BHUARI's REGIME
Whether it’s for cities, states or countries, revenue is always important. Marijuana is the largest crop in the nation and legalizing marijuana can bring more jobs into an area or a country. More jobs equal more revenue, which is needed to help our sagging economy , Just think of the taxes that can be charged on the sale of marijuana. This type of large revenue can be extremely helpful in paying for many government programs. Legalizing marijuana will keep revenue in your own country where it can help your residents.
Re: Legalizing Marijuana, Clarion Call To General Buhari -ymodulus by shinaf: 5:31am On Apr 25, 2015
To legalize or not legalize marijuana (aka cannabis) has been a topic of debate for not only years and decades but for centuries, even with my friends and colleagues ... In fact, regulations on the sale of marijuana began as far back FELA ANIKULAPO DAYS. Although the world has made many concessions since that time, it’s still a topic with lawmakers both nationwide and worldwide.

What’s made it more difficult is that some country have made it legal while others have not. Some states or countries want it legalized for medicinal purposes, others want it legalized for recreational use. Yet, others feel it should just be legalized period with no restrictions. Here are just a few of the many reasons why marijuana should be legalized worldwide.

Marijuana Used for Health Reasons
1.. it makes people eat well and feel good
While alcohol and prescription drugs are responsible for thousands of deaths each year, marijuana is safe to use and will not kill you. Before marijuana could even begin to be harmful, an individual would have to consumer more than it’s even possible to consume.
I think marijuana have no consumption limit ....

2... Brain relaxation
The seeds from hemp are highly nutritious and are rich in omega 3, calcium and iron. Hemp is used in many foods, including salad dressings, nutrition bars and chips.and helps a lot in relaxation

3.....so many advantages , I can't talk about ....
With merit , we have the demerit also .
Product With Many Uses
One form of marijuana known as hemp can be used for various practical purposes such as fabric, rope or even bedding for animals. The uses for hemp are almost unending i swear ...
For years, marijuana has been successfully used to help people with serious health issues, particularly with cancer patients. Cancer patients should not have to travel to states where it is legal just to get treatment that can make their lives better and allow them to feel better. Because of the stigma attached to marijuana, many sick patients are afraid to get marijuana. Additionally, legalizing marijuana will allow sick patients to have it without having to jump through hoops just to get it for medicinal purposes. Marijuana has proven to have health benefits for more than just cancer patients alone ....

Endorsed. A lot of revenue can be earned by legalizing marijuana such as taxes on growers which would lead to premium pricing as it should be considered a luxury and would limit its reach to younger users of schooling age, and from the "stoner" tourism Amsterdam enjoys today. Among others.

You are peddling falsehood. Though marijuana has been grown and used in Jamaica since the 19th century, with US being one of their biggest buyers, it's possession, sale, transport has not only been Illegal but also Criminal in Jamaica until the end of 2014 when its possession stopped being a criminal act, but it is still ILLEGAL in Jamaica (and sale and transport of it are still Criminal acts). It is only legal to grow up to 5 crops of it, because many use it for traditional or medicinal use. So my friend, even the traditional growers haven't legalised it, only those who have control structures feel confident to, in the US for instance, only the 4 states I mentioned fully legalised it, in fact I've personally seen people being arrested in one or two states in the US for its possession. Many US states don't want to witness the "crack era" anymore when the use of crack was linked directly to violent crimes, school dropouts and youth destructive behaviors that preempted the war against crack in the 80s.

This is a history lesson, just drop the issue, it won't see the light of the day like I earlier suggested

Whoever wrote that article apparently does not have any idea about the topic. How can you even begin to suggest that Marijuana is more addictive than coke or alcohol or even tobacco? The problem with cannabis is that most of the people who criticize it have never tried it thus they say a lot of bullocks.

@ymodulus, with everything that is wrong with Nigeria, i strongly believe that this issue is the least of our priority and i agree totally with socialmediaman on this one

Noooo! Stop comparing Gun to Marijuana. They are two different world apart. Please.

You have ciggerates if you want to smoke and feel funky, don't copy western addictions and expect them to be adopted here.
You can't compare cigarettes to Marijuana. Cigarettes has no benefit rather its implicated in nearly all cancer related diseases, same however can't be said for Marijuana. I stated this up in the conclusion of My article.

Well, apart from that, not all states abroad legalize marijuana. You make it sound like its legal everywhere, no, you're misinforming people by that.
No I never did. I cited Colorado as an example, I never in my article said its legalize everywhere. Please take note

Just think of the revenue benefits. I believe its high time we begin to look for ways to reduce our reliance on oil and have other means of Generating Revenue.

@SocialMediaMan ,
I see you completely ruling out the possibility of the bill seeing the light of the day, I stated at the introduction of my article that its expected. Fierce opposition from all angles will be phased. So sir don't you think its high time we let people see the benefits as numerous as they are, create the awareness and possibly things might turn around for good?

Beside don't be so sure the bill won't see the light of the day. Recall how people where surprise as to the teenage marriage bill issue with Senator. Yerima , but it saw the light of the day. So also if we believe and put effort this can also be successful.

Join me and let's create the awareness
