Note: this thread is deicated to the Igbo ancestors of Haiti, just the same way the Haitians pay homage specifically to their Igbo ancestors. It claims in no way that Igbos were the sole people present in Haiti.

The people of Haiti have a lot dedicated to their Igbo ancestors. Some Ibo landmarks commemorating Igbo presence in Haiti are as follows:

a) Ibo radio station, Haiti: Radio Ibo 98.5 FM

d) Haitian Independence and Democracy largely attributed to the Ibo spirit of determination: Ibo granmoun

e) Ibo lele nation song dedicated to the Ibo ancestors in Haiti.

Igbos may not have left behind a pervasive surviving religion, however, they left huge landmarks in their name wherever they went. In Haiti, there is pervasive usage of 'Ibo' everywhere in the country. In Belize, a section of the town was once named 'new eboeland' for over 50 years. Virginia, US was once nicknamed 'New Eboeland' owing to huge presence of Igbo slaves in that state. In Georgia, there is an 'Ibo's Landing' currently in that state, in reference to Ibo slaves who embarked on St. Simon's Island destined for slavery in the americas. In mozambique, there is an island used as a major trading port for slaves during the slave trade named 'Ibo Island' and it is speculated that it was named after Ibo slaves who were first shipped to mozambique from bight of biafra to break their identity, and thus squash the spirit of resistance in them before finally shipping them off to the americas, to serve under expected obedience and servitude. I will research more on this fact.
