I ve got a lot of up to date aunts that got married to middle class yoruba men and like they always say,it favors them more than marrying their own people and to a great extent it's true because they(yoruba men) seems to marry the whole extended family, taking care of the needs of the people Marriage like any other thing is just common sense, without common sense you can't do anything right be it eating. |

We are beginning to see the good in tribes outside of ours. I seriously doubt the bolded. If anything the tribalism is actually increasing. Yoruba men dating and marrying outside their tribe is nothing new. Its been going on for generations. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ brodas n sisters until some of us young peeps start looking at life from a wonderful perspective, we may never outlive our fathers limited visions, if you find love/happiness in a male/female outside your ethnic linage please make the best of it beautifully, am in one i never tot would happen when i was younger but today i must say i happy 4 it as d day passes bye. afterall some of us will marry 1 white lunatic but think otherwise of ur own just because he/she spoke a diff language?? |

What a contrast! In my case, i'm an igbo guy extremely interested in yoruba women. I've dated only yoruba women all my life and these are my attractions and a bit of dislike. My attractions: 1. Very polite and respectful 2. By book or trick, likely to be educated. 3. High self-esteem My turn-off: 1. I dont like yoruba foods, quite boring 2. I dont like seeing a yoruba man near my girl, i dont trust him. But i love to see more igbo guys open up and marry yoruba girls. Pls my brothers they are nice. Different from the men. The way i see it in what happened to Hausas and Fulanis, that they so intermarry that they turned to one ethnic group(Hausa-Fulani) will in the future happen to Yorubas and Igbos. |

GOOD THING AWOLOWO IS DEAD. He would certainly object to anything that trumps tribalism, especially his hatred for anything Igbo. ask Obasanjo, the modern day awo. Personally, the yoruba ladies i have met are typically FILTHY. |
Re: Yoruba Boys And Igbo Gals by excanny: 7:07am On Aug 29, 2010 |
Riot5000: You are quite right. That man was the grand master of tribalism. The damage he did to his people's psyche is still there up till today. |

Inked_Nerd: Maybe they are more romantic. The key to your emotional fulfilment lies in Yorubamen |
Re: Yoruba Boys And Igbo Gals by InkedNerd(f): 9:31pm On Aug 30, 2010 |
Hmmm, are you Yoruba . For some reason I always run into Yoruba men or if I meet a guy who only has one parent who's Nigerian, they're usually Yoruba. |

Inked_Nerd: Of course he's yoruba/ can't you see his name? |
Re: Yoruba Boys And Igbo Gals by excanny: 8:32pm On Sep 01, 2010 |
afam4eva: Not all people are conversant with Yoruba people and their names. Some people only know them as one of the main tribes in Nigeria, and may not be able to distinguish their name. Just like some Yoruba cannot differentiate an ibibio/urhobo/ijaw/idoma from an igbo. So she's correct not to know. |
