Senator Iroegbu in Abuja and Michael Olugbode in Maiduguri As the Boko Haram terror sect continues to unravel under the weight of the ongoing military offensive, the full extent of its atrocities and bestiality have continued to emerge with horror. The offensive in Sambisa forest is yielding tremendous treasure trove of intelligence, with the discovery of sensitive materials including arms, ammunitions, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) gadgets and video recordings of beheadings they left behind. In a related development, a gunman yesterday morning attacked the College of Administrative and Business Studies (CABS) Potiskum in Yobe State, injuring 14 people, before killing himself. According to the report by PRNigeria on Friday, many of the video materials captured by the troops from Sambisa forest are currently being analysed by military experts. Some of the videos, the report said, included recording of scenes of trials, beheadings, executions, stoning, floggings and those taken during preparations for suicide attacks. A military source stated that capturing such recordings was another major feat in the battle against the terrorists as it was a tool used to really terrify mostly civilian population and cow them into submission. The source added that “some of the video were meant for release through their normal channels to the public before they were dislodged from their camps. They also show the barbaric life in their so-called caliphate. “The media and the public are advised to be careful in handling or sharing sensitive and offensive videos depicting atrocities that some viewers may find disturbing,” the source said. Since they invaded Sambisa Forest a few weeks ago, Nigerian troops have liberated about 1,000 women and children from the various terrorists camps already dismantled. There have been tales of woes and great distress from many of those rescued from the terrorists about their reign of terror and lately of despondency within the ranks of the insurgents. When contacted on the discovery of video recordings, the Director Defence Information (DDI), Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade said: “A number of vital materials, apart from arms and ammunition, have been recovered which are being subjected to intelligent analyses. We don’t want to say much about that now.” Gunman Attacks College in Potiskum, 14 Injured… Meanwhile, a gunman on Friday morning attacked the College of Administrative and Business Studies (CABS) Potiskum in Yobe State, injuring 14 people, before killing himself. According to the Information Department of the institution, the bomber, who was armed with Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and AK47 rifle, stormed the school around 8:00am and started shooting sporadically at the gate. He forcefully gained entrance into the school shooting at students and teachers alike aimlessly. The source revealed that efforts were made to get hold of the bomber by people around who noticed that his ammunitions had run out after a prolong shooting. Sensing the move, he detonated the IED on him, leading to his death and injuries to others nearby. The source said: “The bomber stormed the school around 8:00am and commenced shooting at a popular arena where he injured several people and later triggered the explosives hidden on him to avoid being caught.” Hospital source said that 14 people with various degrees of gunshot injuries were brought into the Potiskum General Hospital located just beside the attacked school and are currently being treated. The source told our correspondent on phone that 6 of the injured persons have been referred to the Federal Medical Centre in Nguru also in Yobe State. She disclosed that the remaining eight are currently under observation at the Potiskum hospital. She said: “Those on referral to the Federal Medical Centre in Nguru suffered gunshot injuries while the eight currently on medical observations at the Potiskum General Hospital had health problems ranging from shock as a result of the attack as well as minor injuries while fleeing the scene of the attack.” The Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Police Command, Toyin Gbadegesin confirmed the incident. He also said the situation had been brought under control and security forces were working round the area. The PPRO called on the public not to take for granted the gains of the security forces and urged them to remain vigilant in the fight against insurgency and to report people with suspicious character for prompt action. www.thisdaylive.com/articles/military-uncovers-treasure-trove-of-boko-harams-activities-intelligence/208861/

Have you not notice the endless flood of meaningless unverified news about Boko Haram? Have also noticed that the whole so called "war" against Boko Haram is staged and is shrouded in secrecy? The so called multinational forces are simply massacring innocent civilians in a bid to clear Nigerian territory that America has marked to be broken off from Nigeria. omenka: |
