Removing fuel subsidy is a good idea....let's get that straight.

Even the cabals love it...it means they can now charge N200 per liter of fuel...and no one will complain.

But the reason why it never happened was because.

1.Try explaining to an average Nigerian,struggling with one dollar a day, why he or she should,directly or indirectly pay more than one dollar for a liter of fuel?(And before you sing long term economics....recall that a hungry man....)

2.Try explaining to an average Nigerian why he should pay more for fuel...when we are supposedly refining the thing.


When you are the leader of a country...you gotta make two kinds of decisions...the right decision, and the popular decision.And they are not necessarily the same thing.Sometimes, it is a straight choice between the two.

(Anyway, fuel subsidy is going to go now...because we really do not have a choice this time.).
