Oka is Cobra...

This is a puff adder, it's called "MonaMona". I guess the name was given due to its mesmerizing skin pattern.
oka is not cobra oooo, cobra is called shebe in Yoruba.

As a botanist, I was thought in medicinal plants that this viper with some plant concussions are medication for some terminal diseases.

@op, Igbos also call it "echieteka" which loosely translates to * tomorrow is far". It is a named coined to connote the high venomous nature of this creature. Victims of its bites usually don't survive the next day if care is not taken. The Hausa name, gobe de nisa means the same thing.
Pls, where do you live? I have so much phobia for snakes. Even ur post has messed up my day cry

That's a Puff Adder. You're so Lucky it didn't strike you. Please give us more info about the snake. Did it attack you, any warning sound, or did it just wait for you to kill it.. Give us clue on how to face a snake when running away isn't possible.

This snake doesn't attack in the day and it has about 7nose

Omo 3bottles of origin for u for dis kill

No, it's a boa constrictor. It has no poison (venom). It kills by constricting it's victim (wrapping itself around its victim and squeezing it to death.

Woke up early in the morning, stepped outside the gate and realised there's this "rod" on the ground with a nice pattern or design.
I got closer and discovered it was a snake. I took a closer look and to my greatest surprised it was a VIPER..

damn!! I had to do the needful at that time by smashing the head, because you never know who might mistakenly step on its tail especially as it almost has the same colour as the ground.

It was too big to ignore (as a viper).
Take a look at the length compared to the largest size of bathroom slippers. (in the pix)

Snakes can be very deceptive. Be very careful where u go or step especially dead leaves..

VIPER
IBO :- ajuala
HAUSA:- gobe De nisa

What is it called in Yoruba or your local dialect??

modified:- those asking if I stay in the bush or desert.. To answer your question: NO.

I so hate this animal

No, it's a Boa Constrictor. It's got no poison (venom). It kills by wrapping itself and crushing it'd victim until he is dead. It then swallows it. This side would be able to swallow chicken, puppy, or a human baby. Be careful people.

From the size of the girth as compared to its head and tail it probably just ate something and was looking for a quiet place to digest it.....probably couldn't put up much of a fight.
Nevertheless puff adders and other vipers are DANGEROUS.....it must have taken @op a lot of guts to kill it.

Yep I think so but vipers are not fast snakes like d cobras or mamamba, dey wait for their preys by camoflagin be4 strikin.
You fit add 2more origins for the op
