Mr Economics, today because of maybe how nice the hotel is or whatever reason, this news prompted the moderator to move this to the front page for free. As we are discussing Akwa-Ibom is riding on an enthusiastically fueled organic publicity, which am sure is driving curiosity.This state has secured a massive tourism market during the yuletide periods, the goal is to extend this tourism drive to other times of an annual calender. Naturally people feel inclined to invest in say Lagos or Abuja; i cant say same for Akwa-Ibom, hence the need for government to invest in these types of equities because hotels are needed to sustain a viable tourism drive.............like Dubai. But another part of the picture you may not see is the silent drive to sustain health and sports tourism.

My sentiment exactly. I'm yet to see a thread that will boost human development in Akwa Ibom state. Good governance goes beyond beautification of capital city and hotels. The hotel looks good and will boost tourism but to me I consider it misplaced priority just like the stadium except he is running human development policies alongside the project.

Their expatriates lives in hotel permanently. Some of their core senior staffers also uses hotels paid for by exxon mobil, my cousin is a direct beneficiary.
The "standard hotels" in eket are not even enough for servicing companies talk more of mobil.

Do u know what? Most of dis hotels which to me are still locals pays better than some banks

well.he has done all that. i have two friends who did their msc at manchester . all sponsored by the state govt. they are all from humble back grounds. another one is in india doing his msc in IT. SRM university. akpabio does not mention stuff like this to the media. there is free education in the state already. his last skill acquisition scheme took in a bout 10,000 people. and his ministry of environment green brigade employs 5000

That hotel is an avenue to create job opportunity to akwa ibom people, an avenue to flux in finance to the state and attract tourist to the state which might become a catalyst to more companies and investments in the state leading to more opportunities and development if properly handled. So please give it to him, he has done well. If all the state governments had done what he did Nigerians won't be complaining today.

Akpabio is the best governor in Nigeria, I don't really give a damn about how much he stole when development in Akwa Ibom is visible. Fashola didn't do half of the things the governor did. I think my next tourist destination in Nigeria is Akwa Ibom.

Gentleman, there's no point in arguing with Akwa ibomites in the quest for celebrating the hotels and stadiums in their state.
As far as they understand, it's the best thing to happen to them. Living in their state, I can't imagine how unequal and polarised the state of their society is. I'm just counting days to go back to civilization.
Apart from Uyo, Ikot Epene and perhaps Eket and Oron, there is nothing else worth celebrating about people oriented development.
May I remind you guys that we have a northerner no-nonsense president now.

As far as I m concern that hotel has no economic value in that state. It is a misplaced priority and a total waste of public funds.
