It was a case of the rich also cry in the Victoria Garden City (VGC) estate, Ajah, Lagos, today, June 20, 2015, as heavy rainfall led to flooding in the streets.

Many vehicles, including jeeps and SUVs, were submerged halfway in the rising waters.

Other areas in the state, including Lekki, Yaba, Agege, Iju and Ikorodu, were also affected.

Lagosians are their own problem. When their orientation change about why they need not litter everywhere with plastic bottles & pure water sachet, their drainage flow will get better.

This is why I say in terms of real estate Lagos is over hyped. People pay millions for property in this supposed high brow area yet it is susceptible to floods every year.

Sure, properties are just constructed without proper drainage plan. Their key interest is just to occupy any tiny space left.

The mgt of VGC is so lazy or have lacked motivation to work. This particular place(nicon hotel)retains any little water. But they turn their face the other way. Serves them right!

I Sincerely don't know why something has not been done about the flood in vgc, same thing repeats itself every year and yet the people staying there won't do nothing about it.

I don't know if they are waiting for outsiders or Government to create a drainage for them.
It's not a good experience at all, its like punishment.

Whichever way you see it, it still boils down to insensitivity of the government we have. How can this be a recurring scene every year and it remains unsolved. I am starting to believe the Fashola was even somehow over-hyped.

Over this issue of flood in lagos, the truth must be told. Government cannot do everything alone. I keep saying this over and over again, the level of apathy among the citizens is too high.

Any I don't know about VGC o, but in my area, the day earmarked for environmental sanitation is used by people to gist and wait for 10:00am so they go out without being arrested by the law enforcement people.
Simple truth is we are our own enemies.

It is not the goverment that drops biscuit and sweet wrappers on the road or drainages. We the citizens are the ones guilty of that. Government doesn't build houses on drainages. We do.

There is only so much that the government can do. We also have our part to play, and only when we play that part will we have the moral right to point fingers at government.
