Former President Jonathan Officials Accuse Buhari Of Dismissing Already Dissolved Board, Claim $5 Billion Remitted By NLNG - Sahara Reporters

Some members of the outgone administration of President Goodluck Jonathan have said President Muhammad Buhari was out of order by dissolving the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), contending that, according to the “Petroleum Act,” the board stood dissolved the moment erstwhile Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, left office.

President Muhammadu Buhari
Wikipedia
Two members of Mr. Jonathan administration, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told SaharaReporters that there was no reason for President Buhari to send a letter to the board of the NNPC to dissolve. “That act [President Buhari’s dissolution of the NNPC board] is null since there was no board in place after the former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, left office,” said one of the sources.

Mrs. Alison-Madueke, who constituted the current NNPC board, officially lost her cabinet position on May 29, 2015 when former President Jonathan’s tenure ended.

A second source, who served on the disbanded board, claimed that Mr. Jonathan’s administration left $5 billion in the kitty for the incoming Buhari government. He said the funds were yielded by dividends from Nigeria’s sales of liquefied natural gas.

Last weekend, Babs Omotowa, the chief executive of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG), claimed that the company paid $1.6 billion in dividends to the Buhari government. However, one of the two sources who spoke to us claimed that said the amount was $5 billion. He added that President Buhari was either hiding the correct amount paid to his government in order to justify his claim of inheriting “an empty treasury” or that the NLNG was playing a game on Nigerians.

The NLNG is a joint venture between the Nigerian government and multinational oil companies.

Fellow Nigerians, who is not telling us the truth here? Did NLNG actually remit $5Billion or $1.6Billion? This should not go the way of $2.8Billion ooo! No ministers, no accountability, everyone is busy talking about NASS issues, we need to be vigilant.

Are you hoping that his assets being declared will improve your condition of living? You have stopped the request for his certificate, now it's his asset. He promised to do so within 100 days to make it public. He already filled it with relevant office. If you need it desperately request for it under the FOI Acts. Stop acting childish.

Hey, I do not know who you are but I expect some form of maturity in your comment being that you wanted to advice someone to be mature.

You might be a fan of the APC or of Buhari, that doesn't really matter to me.

All that matters is that he should be held liable to his message of Zero corruption. Why won't he make his asset declaration public so Nigerians can know what he has already before becoming president?

Don't say I'm childish because my question pricks your line of thought. That is the essence of a forum like this.

The robotic grunts of buharis star-struck disciples. Buhari threatened to soak the dogs and the baboons in blood and you lost your voices. Nearly a thousand souls maimed as a result of his wild threats after he lost the previous election, all of you kept quiet. He refuses to produce his certificates and you all said if he shows up with a toilet tissue, you will still vote for him. . He refuses to debate his opponents, you insisted that debates don't count and encouraged him not to. He refused to declare his assets publicly, even after he promised to do so initially, you were right there behind him, vociforously defending this indefensible. He couldn't organise his government and you came up with the weird argeument about how ministers are no more needed, rather we should be ok with perm secs. Jonathan was heavily pilloried for having the guts to appoint easterners into strategic positions. Fairness became tribalism as genuinely honest appointments were dangerously cast as moves driven by base sentiments. But when your baba started fulling/fooling officialdom with his fulani hordes these days, we were told to accept it because the most important thing is for him to find those he can work comfortably with. Now billions are starting to develope wings while angel buhari is in charge and you miserable lot are busy running from pillar to post , inventing all sorts of dubious reasons to provide your eternally blundering oga at the top with the softest landing possible. . Poor kids. . #Godiswatchingyouall. .

The $5Billion NLNG remit may not have included the oil sales in the last 30 days that this government has been in office. A simple analysis would show that this government may have sold about 72.3 million barrels since inauguration at the average daily production of 2.41 million barrels. At the current price of between $58 - $61 per barrel, Nigeria would have earned about $4.4Billion (i.e. 2.41*30days*$60), under Buhari's watch. Since there is no minister, no clear structure as NNPC Board was said to have been dissolved with Deziani, one would hope that Buhari is taking records because, Nigeria belongs to all of us.

We must be vigilant as Op noted to avoid being robbed by those who claim to be saints. Long live Nigeria.

Buharis appointments in related sectors so far: Auditor-General, a northerner. . Accountant-General, a northerner. . The Custom controller, who has proven himself a veritable looting machine for ions is alsoo a northerner, if not for the eye-brow raised by media publications on buharis attempt to riddle the NNPC with his ethnic henchemen, he most probably would have infested the whole place with them 'born rulers' by now. . There seem to be a certain desperation to domisticate all reveneu yielding channels within the 'family'. . Makes you wonder what the plan is?

Not sure what you mean. Are you implying that this government has not been exporting oil since may 29, 2015?
It is worrisome for someone to claim "empty treasury" when $5Billion was left for you and your government has been exporting oil since inauguration to the tune of about $4.4Billion.
