Just see the buscuit countries that you are naming. The population of those countries cannot match that of the Igbos.
And yet would still be considered more of a 'global' language than igbo tongue

So, why are u saying Yoruba and Hausa are global and Igbo is not
Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by Afam4eva(m): 5:43pm On Mar 08, 2009
Who and What determines which language is global?

Please, help me find where I ever stated that because I don't remember doing such

Although, If we are being honest with ourselves here, compared to Igbo, both Yoruba and Hausa are more recognised globally, that's just the way it is and I doubt getting the igbo music artists of naija to sing more in their native language rather than Yoruba will change that, I'm just saying  lipsrsealed

Not withstanding, Igbo is a beautiful language which I sincerely hope does not go 'extinct' which I can see that some people are fearing.

As ruggedman said just becos one sings in yoruba doesn't mean you re a sell out, where igbo, yoruba , Hausa or anyother Nigerian language, the main thing is doing a song you and your people can identify with,
just for future refer OJB isn't Igbo

to me yoruba lang is easy as a.b.c.but yoruba lang is spoken in yoruba lands.no other place.ibos that use yoruba in songs are those that grow up in lag.or any other yoruba land.but these days, yoruba musicians are trying to inculcate ibo lang.into their songs cos they are trying to sound apealing to other listeners.but they end up puting only one word or two cos they cant pronounce the rest.nice said love nwantiti in ON MY WEDDING DAY.weird m.c put ibo in ijoya.d,banj was fabulous in his.but that was with the help of don jazzy and another ibo high life musician.these days, ibos are coming back to singing with ibo and leaving yoruba alone.kelly handsome never sang yoruba in his album.J MARTINS didn't.its left for us ibos to be cherishing a work done in our own language.timaya never pronounced yoruba in any song but he is the greatest now.nigga raw is a made star for those that said he's not.ONE HURTING TRUTH IS THAT IBO PRODUCE THE GREATEST NUMBER OF HIPHOP ARTISTS IN NIGERIA.i ain't tribalistic.save ur tribe if u want to.WE ARE THE GREATEST NO DOUBT. grin grin grin
Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by chibic(m): 11:55am On Mar 11, 2009
point of correction to khanye.100%artists in non yoruba lands does not sing in yoruba.then, only 60% artists in yoruba land sing in yoruba.and yorubas rule only in yoruba lands like ekiti, ondo and others I don't know.yorubas don't rule in lagos.bear that in mind.Ibos in lag speak ibo to their brothers.yorubas speak theirs too.but ibos are too smart to understand other peoples language so quick.that's why when u speak ur language to an ibo.he will understand and reply.but yorubas only understand their language.hausa artists based in north does not sing in yoruba.ibos based in east does not sing in yoruba.only those based in lagos, but not all.all these are cos so many things are centered in lagos.over time.some headquarters and some other things will be moved to other places and will shall see if people will gravitate to lagos like before.it will be sooner than u think.
Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by chibic(m): 12:06pm On Mar 11, 2009
ABAGWORO,OJB is a pure IBO.he was so proud to say it.90% deltas are pure Ibos, you know that.ASABA,the capital of delta is a very much ibo land.what's the general language their?is it urobo or another?is it cos river niger was inbetween.if u are from delta and not ibo.you shouldn't claim somebody that doesn't speak the same language with u.

@Chibic, I do not understand your point, I only do standard or pidgin English, the hybrids tend to go over my head.

@Afam, how weird is it that you asked a question and then spend 14 pages tryna prove yourself wrong,  wow  .

Name 10 popular songs right now, then lets see how many have not Yoruba word or more in, the songs have to be circa '08-09.

Afrocynic. . . wetin be ur point sef

So becos many refer to Yoruba language even in the most minimal way,
they should be protestations as they are over the Igbo dominance of Nollywood.

From Production to distribution to retail, Nollywood is fundamentally Igbo. A few parochial
references in the music scene cannot compare. . . .

Lol, the question of Nollywood was not raised in this thread, Jonny! I am merely attempting to help Afam and his cohorts find a well reasoned answer ( I refer you to the first three pages of the thread) to the question he posed.

Before you ask me what my point is, why don't you read the title of the thread and respond to that question? hmmn? as opposed to running your fingers to answer a question that you dreamed up, simply because you had a seemingly perfect answer in your head, yeye boy.

Chicbic, your ethnocentrism is so transparent and boring, go somewhere with Afam, you two will make a nice cuople. You obviously have a problem comprehending standard English, and since that is the case, I won't waste any more time on you.

Ofokasibe, I hope you know what it is you are getting yourself in to,
