mzpetite: As I said earlier as long as you are a full time staff and not on contract bank pay is better than a lecturer's pay. I know for instance that banks will generally pay between 2500000 - 4200000 per annum for entry level staff. Meanwhile a graduate assistant will probably earn like 1440000 naira per annum and Professors (after 15 - 20 years) will be earning about 4500000 naira per annum. almost what entry level bankers earn. If job security is your thing and you don't mind crappy pay and poor working conditions for the rest of your career then take the lecturing job. But if you desire a high flying corporate career the Banking job is the better choice. Or any other job in the industry. Of course there's little risk of lay off, but it is not as serious as you all paint it to be. 1 Like |

Na wah ooo. We are eager to blame the government when we are not better. Most people only think of job security and not passion (interest). (S)he should consider what interest him more between the two options. 1 Like |

LECTURING FAR BETTER. IT IS RELIABLE IT IS SAFER IT HAS PROSPECTS. LET HIM RESUME AND ORGANISE HIMSELF AND START M.ED.HE CAN CROSS TO UNIVERSITY.THAT IS EVEN BETTER THAN POLYTECHNIC WISHING HIM THE BEST. |

Re: Your Advice: Lecturing Or Banking Job. by Nsiman(m): 6:30am On Jun 29, 2015 |
To be brief, there is job security in lecturing in a gov't owned polytecnic and there is no any iota of job security in banking except at the central bank. I prefer ur friend accept the one with Job security. |
