Nigerians do not know their rights.

I almost shed a tear at the end of the write up.

It's take pain and serious discipline to know ones rights. And it takes even greater courage to enforce them. And the vast majority of Nigerians lack these two vital attitude.

Simple. The three slaves dressed in white does not have a life. A country where government should not be blamed over everything. I wonder what the stupid foreigner was thinking in his head.

"Oh... what the heck am I doing in this animal zoo..".

They treat us like 'Black Shit' in their countries and we treat them as 'Royals' here as if to applaud their racist dishings pushed down our throats on their soil. the color of their skin does not make them more superior! pls Nigerians learn!
It baffles me to think we suddenly become black the moment we enter their shores when in our continent we are 'freewill people' (Read Americannah by Chimamanda N. Adichie).

I love this action my brother if it's not fiction.

can you imagine a bank full of staff wearing same skin color as those on queue for hours giving preference to a white skin who wouldn't bath an eye if you stood under the sun for hours in a bank on his land........I de vex jare. haba.

This morning, as I landed in Lagos, I made to the
nearest GTB to transact. The queue from inside
the banking hall to the bank entrance was crazy.
They are customers who wanna register for their
BVN, I was told. Today is the last day for
registration, they said. I wished them well as I
aligned with the shorter queue for customers
who wanna deposit cash.
Soon, from the BVN queue, a woman began to
scream. The only thing I was able to pick from
the scream, 'se ori meji loni ni? (does he have
two heads?' I stepped out of my queue, to go
and gbeborun, to see what or who was
tormenting this woman. These GTB staff that are
always garbed in white military-like uniform; are
they drivers or security men? About three of
them had just came in with one whiteman. And
they took the whiteman straight to the lady at
the BVN desk. And the lady, too, was already
attending to the whiteman while the queue
watched, and waited, except this woman.
For a moment, I observed things. The woman
screaming against this white supremacy on the
soil of Africa is one local market woman. I
figured through her dressing, the way she tied
her purse around her waist, and when she
lamented that they left their wares to come join
this queue since they heard the exercise was
gonna close today. The men in white and the
whiteman weren't bothered by the woman's
noise. It was a case of allowing the dog bark all
it can till it can bark no more. The people on the
queue were indifferent. Some of them, their
looks carried the undertone, 'shey this woman
wey dey shout want oyinbo to join the queue ni?
Haba!'
I stepped into the circle, calming the woman.
And then, I took the fight from there. I banged
the desk twice, and instantly I got everyone's
attention. How can these men in white bring this
man in and wouldn't tell him to join the queue? I
began. Hey madam, pointing to GTB staff by the
BVN desk, you can only attend to this man when
he joins the queue! Who are you? One of the
idiots in white turned at me. I jega'ed him. I am
a ten year old customer of GTB, I said, with a
brief smile. At this point, everything stood still.
Tell this man to join the queue, I insisted. When
the whiteman's eyes met mine, I expected him to
talk. He didn't. I did the talking. Is this how you
do from where you come from, huh? I threw into
his face. Is this how you will connive with staff
to jump over the queue when at the Barclays
Bank in London or the Royal Bank in Edinburgh
or Dime Savings Bank of New York? Ha, we don't
do like that here in Nigeria o. We follow due-
process. Mafi bredi komi lomi obe je, ogbeni
oyinbo! L'Eko Ile? Oma to sori queue yen ni se.
He folded his arms and looked on imperiously.
At this point, the bank top officials had gathered
around. There were attempts to 'rescue' the
whiteman to their office upstairs. I halted it. The
moment I noticed, I told them that if they go
attend to the whiteman upstairs, I will tell
everyone on the queue to march upstairs, too.
And then, they resorted to begging. And even the
woman whose fight I had taken ownership of
started to beg me. Otito Baba Oko mi, she
pleaded. No, oyinbo MUST join the queue! Their
pleading fuelled my anger. What is that?
These things that come with neo-imperialism
sha. I've also heard about how whitemen smoke
in places marked No Smoking at the Nigerian
airport, and they go, without being penalised as
would Nigerian offenders.

Op, I love what you did and how I wish I was at same bank, I would have also turned the bank upside down.

Same thing I did to an Indian man at the Airport that was insulting maybe his driver and I was coming into the country. When I heard him insulting the guy, I jumped on him held him to the wall and the airport security came up on us as I pinned him to the wall, asking him " who the hell are you to get your fvcking asss to Nigeria to insult a citizen of Nigeria in his own country?" Boy I was mad as I told him that the insult is on Nigerians and not to the guy.

Boy, you did well cus that inferiority complex of a black man is still in us as our people still see them as been superior to we blacks.

I should not support you on this....

Whether you want to believe it or not, the black man isn't totally incapable of self government.

I'm still on the way to work. Stuck in an avoidable gridlock. Because we can't put our infrastructure in place and maintain them. Google indicates the distance btw my office and home should be covered in just 10 minutes. I've been here for over 50 minutes. I still may spend an additional hour.

Why do we go to the US or Europe for holiday? Because we know they have a better system than ours.

This is my new pet peeve
People travelling anywhere but around Africa for holidaying
It is embarrassing
...By holiday I mean parading the high streets for clothing and other such shopping lipsrsealed
Very very bad

It is sad how someone will have money for a road trip round West Africa at least and not do it
We should know our world
It is not a thing of pride for me when I hear a list of where people have been and they do not mention African countries
Especially when I know they go where they go lipsrsealed to shop and take pictures of oyibo monuments

Now I feel like breaking something! angry

Don't break anything ooo...

Actually I don't like getting engaged in this kind of talk because I usually end up angry and depressed.

How an entire race HAS decided to remain dark, poor, backward and underdeveloped, gives me the deepest of worry.

Miserable continent. Should the White come back again?

However....dear dearpreye...you and IzonOwei do not get it
Black people are NOT the problem
I wish I could make you see that....cap28 can do a better job
Stop cursing yourselves

The white man is the biggest reason why we cannot do much

Colonialism, neo-colonialism and other structural violence meted out to Africa and the black race have ensured it will remain like this
And they also allow our brains to migrate...making us think it is our choice...meanwhile luring us with money...who can refuse money?
If Africa develops...nobody will leave Africa to go and work in a cold, strange, white land
Take this to the bank,....
And see that Africa is in deep wahala

It is not our fault (think capital letters here...I am shouting)
Okay, I will stop now

My dear, I used to toe that path before.

Yes. The Whites enshrined colonialism and neo of it....

How long shall we continue to blame him? After 54 years?

Is he also responsible for our dilapidated roads, hospitals and other infrastructure? I very much doubt....

Africa wasn't the only Continent that was colonised!

It's time we stop blaming others for our woes. It's that simple.

Show me where in the western countries a black man will be taken to the front of a queue of white folks in a bank or any institution. Pls go get some pride, I noticed your blind defence for anything white and putting down of Nigerians and Africans.
I can't believe some silly people click likes to this nonsense you wrote. The Nigerian system is to blame for that. This is not about race. Black people are quick to blame everything on race. It is becoming irritating every time I read about that, because he is white man that is the reason they give him preferential treatment. In that situation a rich Nigerian or a leader would be treated the same way. It is the effing Nigerian system. Please, the i d i o tic person ranting at the bank just made a mess of himself yet you are praising him of making such barbaric move. At the end it creates a chaotic scene of people who cannot organize themselves and show that they cannot reason with their brain to find solutions to an issue rather than blaming it on the wrong thing. You still haven't seen where the problem lies and how to fix it.

I feel like crying each time I see Nigerians displaying some primitive behaviors and feel self-aggrandizement or claiming to be in defense of their rights whereas it is portrayal of their failure to find solutions to long lasting problems. Jeez! Are you and those who click like to your post for real?

Bush man
As a foreigner go and jump the queue in London for a bus. If the bank decided to prioritize certain important customers that's understandable. Every business has its backbone clients. But it should have nothing to do with race and it shld not be done openly in the banking hall, disrespectful of those in the queue. Finally, those who are rushing to register now, what d fuuuukkk is ur problem? Banks have literally being begging ppl to register since January.

Come on, jerk! The bus analogy is completely different because it is without priority. But, in the banking sector things are usually done differently, like paying attention to companies with huge lodges and their representatives, providing separate means of attending to important costumers, etc. There is no doubt that white man is a VIP looking at the two escorts with him. I don't understand what this inferiority complex has to continue to rare its ugly head every time when a white person is involved in any matter in Nigeria. We are gradually becoming what we blame the white people for, racists. It is a big shame that is what you are trying to support in this argument and I cannot condescend low to such petty disgusting thing.

Don't give me that f**king talk here because I am not going to entertain somebody like you who cannot make good use of his brain to understand that chaotic scene is to be blamed on the system not the white man. Yet many of you are already seeing it as stooping to the white man's impetus butt. What the heck is that nonsense for?! Are you so dumb to know that westerners won't run their BVN sh!t or whatever in such a chaotic way and make everybody to suffer before exercising their rights. Come on, lowlife, I don't think you are making any sense here. We cannot continue like this for ever. Something needs to be done to fix the system and that's what the people need now not intimidating white people.

Come on, jerk! The bus analogy is completely different because it is without priority. I agree with you, sir, but I agree with the OP too. When dealing with high value clients, bankers are usually more discreet than that. In this matter, they should have been discreet, apologized to the people in the queue, whatever. That's how it is done.

I believe the bank officials should be blamed more than the man who stood up for the rights of people who were obviously being shortchanged.
