The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Dino Melaye has accused the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu of engaging in anti-party activities to unseat him because of the alleged role in played in the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as the Senate President. It had been whispered how Tinubu had thrown his political and financial weight behind Senator Ahmed Lawan from Yobe as Senate President in the 8th assembly but was fiercely resisted by Melaye, alongside other APC Senators, called the group of the Like Minds leading to the election of Saraki.
