President Muhammadu Buhari, has yet again, proven that his election by Nigerians during the March 28 presidential poll was not a ‘fluke’.

This was the assertion of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who hailed Buhari for coming to the aid of the long-suffering Nigerian workers with a multi-billion-naira package that will not only ensure that all arrears of salaries owed by many states across the country are immediately paid, but will also make it easier for the states to meet their monthly salary obligations henceforth.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party’s national publicity secretary, stated in a statement issued Tuesday, July 7, that the president’s gesture has proven to Nigerians that he is indeed the father of the nation and an exemplary leader.

“We say this because when states were financially handicapped during the tenure of the last federal government, opposition states were hung out to dry while states belonging to the then ruling PDP got generous bailouts.

The PDP that spent the past 16 years plundering and pillaging Nigeria has boasted that the Nigerian people will soon come, cap in hand, to beg them to return to power. What delusion! What arrogance! Who presided over the looting and the mismanagement of public funds that made it impossible for the nation to absorb the shock of the falling oil prices?
“Who depleted the Excess Crude Account (ECA) without authorization? Who has degraded the standard of living of Nigerians?” the party queried via the statement isued in Abuja.

Buhari’s approval include: federal and state governments getting $1.7 billion out of the $2 billion remaining in the ECA; the sharing of about $2.1 billion sourced from the LNG’s payment to the Federation Account; and a CBN-packaged special intervention fund that will offer financing to the states, ranging between N250 billion to N300 billion, as a soft loan available to states to access for the purposes of paying backlog of salaries.

In addition, the president approved a debt relief programme that will help states restructure their commercial loans currently put at over N680 billion.
This implies that the life span of such loans will be extended, while reducing the states’ debt-servicing expenditures, thus leaving the states with enough resources (which otherwise would have been removed at source by the banks) to meet their monthly salary obligations, among others.
The statement therefore read further: “history is repeating itself before our very eyes. Some 31 years ago, Buhari, then as a military head of state, also inherited a huge national rot similar to what has been bequeathed to it by the NPN government and had to approve 480 million Naira for the payment of arrears of workers’ salaries. Truly, the President is a man of destiny.

“We thank Nigerians for voting the APC into power at the centre and for believing in us even when the horizon became hazy, not out of our making but because of the misdeeds of the past. By their relentless support for President Buhari and the APC, Nigerians have indeed demonstrated that what is worth fighting for is worth defending.”
In spite of all these, Nigerians are still unhappy with Buhari over his inability to stem the consistent attacks of islamic insurgents, Boko Haram, after their recent bombing left over 20 people dead in Zaria, Kaduna state.

Am I missing something?
Workers should thank God their salaries were paid but was Buhari's govt not supposed to pay its workers?
Did they suddenly agree to work for free?
Are we supposed to thank our employers for paying our salaries?

barcanista and mogidi, u av both lost your conscience to lies and fabrications just to earn a living.

The truth was that Gej under the guise of ecological fund pushed. lots of money to PDP States, including Anambra and Ondo state. The APC states were excluded. Even the money spent by APC governors on fed roads were deliberately not refunded. A good example was that of Fayemi, he spent more dn 40bill but was denied refund only for the same fed govt to refund 22bill of this amount to Fayose to pay salary and pursue his stomach infrastructure.
This is fraud practice d against all APC states intended to cripple them and turned Nigerian against them. PDP is devilish.

APC again, these guys should stfu and just do what gullible Nigerians elected them to do. If only they know how many Nigerians are already regretting APC as their choice in the last election, then they will sit up and work. How can you claim bail out when majority of the govs spent their monies to have you elected in the first place?

So u no this and ur hero starved Ekiti state fund spent on Federal road by APC govt, but paid 22bill to Fayose as soon as he became governor. This is the same treatment given to all APC states. Never again having a drunkard and fraudster combine as s President. Ike is in Nass forging docs.

this Lai Muhammed is a VERY BIG LIAR! Which PDP state did GEJ government gave lifeline? What is there to celebrate when the government has successfully depleted our reserve to satisfy governors? How is "sharing" the money translate to achievement worth celebrating?

There was NO time the GEJ led government pay ANY PDP state money in the name of bailout. In fact, PDP state of Benue under the last administration was bastardly indebted. There is nothing to celebrate in this sharing of the money. The same governors that wasted N3trn ECA fund that was shared among them in frivolties, looting and white elephant projects between 2010 and 2014. The APC is very silly (with duee respect) for insulting our sensibilities by saying this is an achievement.

It is unreasonable to say that looting of money by feb govt was responsible for non payment of salaries. This is state matter not fed govt. Yes buhari did a good job but that does not mean it's Fed govt responsibility. Therefore, that looting of money from federal pause is responsible for non payment of state workers is un seasoned reasoning. You should blame the state governors for squandering the worker's money not federal govt. I'm only saying the fact, not in support of anybody; I'm neutral when it comes to politics.

Please make your point clear, the soft loan from CBN now, how will they pay it back.
Stop bringing in PDP to this issue, so for working for Government, i should still beg and praise them for paying for the work done. Think very well now.
The Loan borrowed now and the ECA shared to pay salary now, after now how will they continue to pay the money is the issue here.

WHAT IS THE plan of this state governors to generate more revenue to supplement the monthly revenue from the central. NOTHING.

APC should not take the patience of NIGERIAN for granted ooooooh.
