Akure monarch appeals to Gov Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State over seized hotel
By Yemi Akintomide Reporter, Akure

Deji of Akure, Oba Oluwadare Adesina, has called for the support of other traditional rulers in the South West region in appealing to the Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio, to honour his pledge over the continuing stagnation of an Akure indigene's investment in Akwa Ibom.

The monarch also frowned at the lukewarm attitude of Akpabio in fulfilling his promise to pay up compensation to the owner of the 10th Anniversary Hotel Complex in Uyo, the state capital, stressing that the community where the property is situated is agitating for the return of its land.

The traditional ruler had made similar appeal to the governor on the revocation of the certificate of occupancy (C of O) of the said property belonging to Jojein Ventures Limited by Akwa Ibom.

However, the Deji told Sunday Independent in Akure on Saturday, that he's calling on other Yoruba traditional rulers to lend their voices to the injustice done to a prominent son of the land who is doing legitimate business in another part of the country.

He recalled the historical support of progressive Akwa Ibom people to the late sage, Obafemi Awolowo, and the Yoruba's support towards the creation of Akwa Ibom State, hoping that the good and brotherly relationship continues.

"Governor Akpabio as a gentleman and man of his words should endeavour to provide succour to a wronged person not minding his ethnic or religion background.

Instead of these people to go and work hard for their own, they are busy pouncing on peoples investments. Is it a crime to invest in their land?
