When a lying in state is done during the burial of a person, notable or not, the casket is left open for people to have a last view of the person they are paying a last respect and saying goodbye to. This also gives the family members the opportunity to know that it is their beloved's body that is placed in the casket about to be buried. Without that, most people might think the body has been changed or certain parts removed by ritualists. When a casket is kept closed, the main reasons might be due to the fact that the person's body got badly burnt or destroyed in an accident or the illness that killed such a fellow made the body look horrible to view. Below are pictures from the burial of Emeka Ojukwu and also Benjamin Adekunle. Both men fell sick before their death. Ojukwu was hospitalised abroad where he died while Adekunle died in Nigeria. Why was Ojukwu's casket kept close all through the burial ceremony even when people were going round it to pay him their last respect? When you are alive don't mock the dead, its is appointed for all of us to die once and after that judgement We all would be remembered for all we have done. The line between life and death is so thin....... What will you be remembered for? Where will you spend Your ETERNITY? 4 Likes |

I am here only because I saw the name of the Ikemba. The man whose singular action defined a people who will never wear the badge of second class citizens. Ojukwu's action further brought to the fore what the entire world had known, the Igbos are not a cowardly people. We embrace adversity and make the best out of it. We are peaceful but not weak. A closed casket has not stopped the other Nigerians and the world to realise that in recovering from defeat, Ojukwu's people stand at par with the Germans, the Japanese and yes, the Jews. Let's see likes for Ojukwu. 27 Likes 1 Share |

ojukwu was an over ambitious, egotistic, unrealistic, tyrant while Adekunle was a self loathing inferior minded COWARD. Adekunle could not order his junior officers and even ordinary Hausa-Fulani privates. The Train-Igbo soldiers purge was a good example of his generational cowardice. He couldn't safeguard the lives of innocent eastern soldiers who had been entrusted to him for transportation to their region. But instead of coming out to the world and saying the truth, he instead mistakenly created this Red Scorpion alter ego, that was tough and a daredevil. He kept up this lie, even going to the grave with it. His children, grandchildren and generations unborn will forever be cowards because of this silly fearful puppet. Miserable dog! 3 Likes |

Obijulius:An American author said that the four most blessed races on planet earth are German Jewish Chinese(Han) Igbo The Germans within 40yrs of a blistering defeat built the largest economy in Europe The Jews within 3 yrs of certain obliteration reestablished their 2000yr lost state and went ahead to build the strongest military and economy in the near East The Han/Chinese came out from war and destruction to build the second largest economy in the world that's supported by the largest army worldwide(almost 4M soldiers serve in the PLA) The Igbos came out from a genocidal war with the attendant pauperization to be the engine for Nigeria's growth in addition to coming tops in all human development indices nationwide.
