You must be one of the suspected looters or you are one of their senior advocates.Whatever is needed to stop and destroy corruption should not be compromised on the alter of democractic impunity and instrumentality of court hegemony.
Your cry that Buhari is out to destroy democracy and the courts by seeking to appoint judges of proven integrity to head the special courts to try the treasury looters portrays you as unpatriotic and selfish elements in the nation
Please allow Buhari to fight corruption the best way he deemed fit.Dont be a cog in the nation wheel of progress.let the looters receive the deserved punishments for their heinous crimes against the nation.Let the nation move forward ,be a supporter of what is noble and not an advocate of what is evil in the society.

Fools like you crave for public witch burning like this to soothe your pathetic egos on why you are so wretched.

Special courts is not an executive function. It is still a judiciary function only restricted to corruption cases. It will interest you to know it was one of the recommendations of the conference. All well meaning Nigerians should support it. I am telling you Nigerian corrupt political elite do not need soft measures to curb their excesses. Am expecting this method will come down hard on them whether in ruling or opposition parties including the civil service.
A special courts devoid of executive control is no problem. Where the problem would arise would be the executive trying to influence such courts. The president would not have the powers to screen or select judges for such courts

There you go..The selection of judges according to the is being handled by the NJC. They it was that sent the names to security and anti corruption agencies for screening.

On what basis are they carrying out this integrity test. How do u know that mr A or mr B is a man of integrity? Buhari should start working now, else his four years will be a wastefull venture. Is sagay a man of integrity? If they cnt find people of integrity in nigeria, buhari nd sagay should head the special court. A dictator will always be a dictator....

The problems lies with the investigators and the prosecuting teams...

A judge cannot convict if the case has not been proved beyond all reasonable doubts...

If the investigators do their job very well.. And d prosecuting teams refuse to accept any form of plea bargain.. Then d judge will convict accordingly..

If not.. You cant blame the judges..

So.. Pa Buhari.. Please, stop insulting our judges.

Efforts made to make public officials accountable should be massively supported by all; well unless you've stolen money, or irredeemably corrupt.

my brother i understand your pains,am feeling the same way too but i think the right thing at this moment is to give chance to the younger ones,i know there are so many hnest people out there who are capable of handling the job,but would they be giving the chance to show what they are capable of by the government? thats the big question and i think if we must move forward in this country then its time to give the youths a chance .

The committee also used the criteria that judges whose rulings were dismissed by the appellant court were also disqualified.

That means that even where a judge hands down a conviction it isn't ok unless the appeals court vets the same judgement.

Isn't that indicative that Buhari is searching for judges he knows will give him a conviction only which thus implies that Buhari believes that those to be arraigned in future are guilty even before being tried?

This man will destroy not only our democracy but also the courts.

Corruption exist in the blood of an average Nigerian. Taking advantage of others.

What do you call this

You buy goods @ 50 Naira, you keep same to sell at 500 Naira to make how many percent profit You even create artificial scarcity to the detriment of the people.

That is corruption.

This administration needs only to draw a line, otherwise, we are going nowhere.

Very sensible comment. Firefire, u nailed this particular one. You will be shocked that even the suffering masses are so set in their ways that they would wish away this anti corruption fight if they could! But the war on corruption is a must, if Nigeria must move forward. Lecturers exploit their students, Policemen extort money from the people who pay their salaries, market women and men create undue artificial scarcity to the detriment of their fellow masses. I can go on and on, it is pathetic!

APC has made us to forget to demand accountability from our LG chairmen, house of assembly men, House of reps members, Senators and even our governors as if they don't exist, shifting all attentions to the FG.

We are now in the era of CHANGE!

Hope they will give the REAL CHANGE chance?

On the contrary you should be grateful to them for screaming corruption even if you only hear it on the FG level. PDP made us believe it is trivial issue been overblown out of proportion. Left alone to the PDP we should just carry on as if nothing is wrong with the system when in the real sense the rot is more than what is even being bandied.

Poeple like you are just plain critics. They see why all moves are wrong and/or why proffered solutions will not work. They have no particular interest in any solution. Their only interest is to point out why there will be doom.

You revel a lot in displaying an intellectual mind capable of good analysis. But in truth, most of your posts are laden with intense hatred and are devoid of a workable, tested and tried counter-solution.

Why don't you oblige us and tell us what you believe will work as a counter solution?

Every past or present leader should open his or her books for scrutiny.

Tribune will be happy to see that no one pass the so-called integrity test because it has derailed as a respected newspaper in the newsstand, and it's management has skeletons in their office .

Gone are the days when you rely on tribune for stories, now they cook stories!

Guy which committee? the Committee is merely selecting judges for special courts which will be part and parcel of the judiciary only that they would be focused on serious corruption cases probably those where the alleged crime is of magnitude and the evidence is considerable.

Contextually Wrong.

They are not and cannot be appointed to the executive. Did you mean by? If yes
then you are exactly right as appointment of Judges is the prerogative of the executive and to the best of my understanding this committee has been set up more or less as an advisory group which the president is perfectly entitled to, to create a list of candidates for his approval. Its delegation of executive power.
