I can give you verses where they are used interchangeably even though I agree that they have their distinctive meanings you can only detect this when you read the context. Look at the verse below for instance.

"For thus says the Lord, that created the heavens, God Himself that formed the earth, and made it, He has established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD, and there is none else" (Isaiah 45:18).

Like you said "Earth is path of the universe" and If I am right you agree "The universe was created in the beginning" and since earth was part of the universe according to you I see then it must have been created in the beginning alongside with the universe.
