Hi guys, It feels good to be part of this forum. I just moved to Oslo, Norway & I recently work and live there. Are there Nigerians in Oslo? Nigerians in the house who live in Oslo please make yourselves known. It seems there's a deep resentment for Nigerians in this country. Do you guys also think so?

Hi Earthling, I spent about 3 months in oslo in 2008. Your contact with Nigerians depends on where u live. There are a lot of Nigerians living in the central part of oslo around Storgata but you will have to shine your eyes because they come in different forms if u know what i mean. The resentment you mentioned is partly as a result of the prostitution controversy sometime in 2007 which involved Nigerian girls. But generally speaking, most Norwegians can be very accomodating especially when they know you are actively engaged in something positive like work, business etc.

@ tamme
Almost everybody speaks english, even in restaurants, shops and glossary stores. Anyway, I understand a greater percentage of residents here are foreigners

It depends on the kind of job you're seeking. If it's a job that requires personal interaction with clients/customers, then norwegian with or without english language is a must but if u are skilled in a particular profession(specialist as they're called here) then english will do however, like i said in my earlier post language can only be a barrier to an extent. You can inquire more from ur fiancee

I spent a year in a school in Western Norway, a small town called Norhemisun, near Bergen. Norwegiens are basically friendly people. I still have a lot of friends around Oslo
