That Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a force that can’t be wished away politically, socially and otherwise, is a statement of fact. Right now in the Yoruba race, he stands out as a true Yoruba leader who is emulating and building on the legacy the late sage, Pa Obafemi Awolowo left behind.

Before now, a top PDP stalwart in Lagos, Chief Bode George once accused the philanthropist per excellence, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu of copying or acting like Pa Awolowo. Just recently, the fiery preacher, Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Rain Assembly in Interview Magazine, an aegis of Leadership Newspapers, said that the former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, does not belong in the same class with the former premier of Western Region, Obafemi Awolowo, and does not deserve to take the place of the late sage as the leader of the Yoruba race.

Reacting to all these hullabaloos, the amiable but shrewd politician/businessman said, “I have read Awolowo in several books, and he is our hero and mentor, but I cannot but be Bola Tinubu. I can only tread the path of Awolowo, without his shoes. I don’t k now his size. I can’t step into his shoes because they are either bigger or smaller, and his image and legacy are bigger than me. I can only use and share the vision. He went away with his shoes and his cap but he left a legacy, a vision.” Has he responded very well?

Politically, Tinubu is greater than Awolowo. Awo couldn't extend his political influence beyond the Western region to the MidWest despite all his effort. Even in the Western region his influence was cut short by Akintola, his once upon a time Deputy. He ran for President in 1979 and 1983 elections but lost to Shagari. Hisparty (UPN) also lost Oyo state Governorship election despite the incumbency to NPN's Victor Oluloye. Tinubu on the other hand has been expanding his political frontiers to an extent that he's seen as a major political stakeholder in federal elections and appointments.

Administratively, Awo stand ahead of Tinubu.

That's my own take on this. We don't have to be sentimental because Awo is late. That won't stop APC from being booted out in 2019.

Faced with same challenges Awo had, Tinubu will not scale through. How is he bigger than Awo politically? You must not be conversant with political hurdles and milestones crossed by Awo.

Awolowo...??

Abeeegi. Them dey count animals with horn, snail dey raise hand.

BAT, is way smarter and better than Awo (my opinion sha, but they're more like same) . The Yorubas may seem to see it otherwise, but, to me, They're very the same.. They've always wanted to be second to the Northerners ... Weird but true. For example,

Who freed Awo from calabar prison? Guess who sold out to be the federal commissioner for finance and vice president of the Federal Executive Council in the Civil War?

Today, BAT gave the Yorubas to Lord Bubu in a silver platter, with huge smiles, and someone's is thinking who's better?

The players change, but the game remains the same. cool

I see both as two of a kind, egocentric, megalomaniacs and ethnocentric...but while Awolowo achieved little or nothing financially, partly because there was nothing much to steal at that time,Tinubu on the other hand took looting and corruption to a new height.

Let's be appreciative of the effort and achievement of the living. Let's love them while they're still alive. About Awolowo, let's not forget his achievement too. Let's not be dismissive or jealous of our own.

Tinubu lacks awo's vision completely.
Awo entire vision is based on
1 Free comprehensive Education including adult education
2 Health
3 True federalism and self determination especially regarding minorities
4 Social justice .
5 Justice

Tinubu would not even know where to start from in dealing with these issues

Awolowo was concerned with the good of the Western Region, while Tinubu is concerned with how he can use the Yorubas to achieve the aims of Tinubu.

Awo's free education policy enabled people like Tinubu to attend free schools.

To me, I think the difference between the two is in their Political, Social and Economic ideologies.

Awo: Democratic Socialism, Socialist and Conservative.

Tinubu: Democratic Capitalism and largely Liberal.

If we are to holistically mention the most influential politician in Nigeria since time immemorial, Tinubu should top the list.

Tinubu has faced even greated political battles since 2003. I can mention some of them. These battles could have swept anyone into oblivion but he strategically triumphed.
Anywy, I appreciate his stride and I've learnt some few tthings from him though in different political camp.

Bola Tinubu may not have the rugged intellectual acumen that Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo had but his shrewd mental capacity have lifted his people from mere intellectual activist to practical participator in governance, bringing thier intellectual capacity to bear on governance. Obafemi Awolowo is happy with the Jagaban, he expanded the scope of yoruba acceptance in the Nigerian Project. Those of us from the South-South are looking the JAGABAN OF SOUTH SOUTH who will bail us out. Where is Dele Cole?
