Bollinger:the op asked a valid question . Some ppl are already labeling churches that have football teams as demonic and the op is just trying to seek a clarification.read through this thread and you will see where someone said God told him He detests tv station, football teams and etc. |

@Op, what makes you different from others in your calling is your innovative acumen. There is nothing wrong with your vision for it is biblical. My Lord Bishop donated a cup to the youth wing for soccer tournament, even the priests in my province sometimes play provincial soccer tournament. I know that all those people condeming your vision does not know the bible better than these people i mentioned. The Book of Timothy justifies your stand by saying that, "Physical exercise is good....." |

Guys, I really begin to wonder how the bible would have looked like, felt like, sounded like if it was written by present day scholars. During that era, there was nothing like sports talkless of football. Maybe if sports or technology was mentioned inside the bible, christians might have a different view of this matter. 1 Like 1 Share |

just4now: I hope you have watched the movie "Facing the Giants" or you want to tell me the inspiration for that movie is from hell. That movie will win more souls to Christ than your myopic understanding of scriptures. Moreover, Paul said physical exercise profiteth little not that it does not profit at all. Holy Spirit does not contradict the word of God. So you are telling me God does not want his children to participate in journalism or sports. So who is going to win over the sportsmen who live a vain life as celebrities because they never have opportunity to hear the truth. The great commission includes preaching to ALL PROFESSIONS. You my friend should be the one careful of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit by saying He told you what he didn't say. He might convict you personally not to participate in sport because it is detrimental to or affecting your spiritual growth, it does not mean you turn it into a doctrine that others must follow your own personal conviction. This kind of mentality has done a lot of damage to the body of Christ. Thanks 3 Likes |

@Op....your thing is football ... what about the other youths that do not like football?...what about the females? I think you should try to introduce a sports programme where all youths in the church can participate. You also need to be clear on the purpose of the programme.....is the objective of the football team to be the best among churches? or to produce players for major league?....if so you would eventually be recruiting the best players available irrespective of their beliefs and therefore undermining the moral standing of the church. A sports programme is needed in the church to hold and attract youths....but most importantly to gather youths of the same faith, let them bond as a family and enable them to be each other's keeper so they would not easily go astray. Doesn't the Bible preach this?....then you shouldn't have doubts as to if a sports programme is godly. Just be clear of the objective....and stick to it. 1 Like |

The main question is who is leading you, what is the aim or motive,if it is to foster peace and unity, football is not the right tool due to its competitive nature but if it is to help the less fortunate. Like the MFM FC,it is laudable but if it is for just fun or as a mean of recreation then you are missing the point.Note football is not a sin: All things are lawful but not all things are expedient, all things are lawful but not all things are helpful. 1 Like |

My brother, this is the best way to unite the youth and preach to them. It can be a Tact's for evangelism. Football is good and it is the fastest growing sports in the world. God can use you to identify a talent in your church and establish him. It can bring the youths of other churches and non Christians to your church. Go ahead and do it bro. We have a church football club that will play in NPL next season. Thanks and God bless you |
