The bike won't work in Nigeria.

Here everybody wants to own a car. If you don't have a car in Nigeria, you neva arrive

Until the government impose heavy and sophisticated tax on car owners, they would never understand the level of hazard associated with private cars.

It will take a lot of orientation and rebranding to appropriate these fantastic ideas.

We are talking about a Lagos where people see commercial bus drivers and commuters as POOR people.

How about the train? The average Nigerian feels trains are meant for people who cannot afford AC fitted buses or private cars. GEJ tried to rebrand this aspect (at least we saw celebrities on train) but he was booted out of office in the name of corruption.

Fantastic ideas @OP but do not expect 'these' in this generation. Let's pray we don't raise more TINUBUs & SARAKIs.

The situation of LAGOS traffic is not even as tough as is in some other cities of the world. The issues causing the traffic is lawlessness. Even when well meaning individuals decide to assist to solve it in some areas, discouragement will set in because the transport business is monitored and controlled by touts. 60% of the private cars you see on LAGOS roads have only one occupant because the state of the buses for transporting HUMANS and not 'animals', in the city of Lagos can only be compared to coffins. If the transportation sector is very much sanitized by the government being firm, a lot, if not all of these daily delays will be cleared.

5. Bike sharing(Netherlands, London).

Will this work?

Imagine having thousands of bikes littering about a hundred bike stations across Lagos or VI. Instead of adding your car to the traffic, you can just stroll to the nearest bike station to your house, pick a bike, cycle to work and drop it off at the nearest bike station to your office. Like that again when you're going home undecided

it is working in Germany so it would work in nigeria if we embrace it and not have black an mentality of "a whole me with suit riding bicycle to work".
especially in lagos(CMS to...)
Reducing the amount of cars on the way which means less traffic

4. Interchange/Highway.

Government should provide these in Lagos and traffic will drastically reduce.

*Highway 401, Canada.

*Dallas highfive.

*L.A.

*Dubai Interchange.
if lagos government have money to compensate people because gov will have to demolish people house, electric lines relocation etc. but the slow method of construction and poor funding to contractors will make it a bad investment Eg the light rail badagry Expressway...
I think other underdeveloped State should be working towards planning of road/drainage before allocation of lands to avoid unnecessary expenses for compensation later.

Elevated/Overhead metro or train system.

An elevated railway(also known in Europe as overhead railway) is a rapid transit railway with the tracks above street level on a viaduct or other steel, concrete or brick structure. The railway may be standard gauge, narrow gauge, light rail, mono railor a suspension railway. These will run/fly over water, busy, congested, and traffic prone areas in Lagos.

* Metro Dubai.

* Vancouver skytrain, Canada.

* São Paulo metro.

* Elevated section of the Docklands Light Railway in London.

we just need mentality orientation (V.C of a university rides bicycle to school in even US).
the tax system that would work better is the more cars an individual own the greater the tax Eg 1car=5% tax then 2cars=15% tax

We can do these, all we need is a serving and a corruption free government. These are great ideas that wil definitely work if corruption can be eradicated to the lowest level im the country. Every problem/challenge we facing in this country can be traced to corruption. "The better the lives of the citizens, the poorer our leaders become" and they dont want that. The budget of a particular project is #10 Billion in the country, the primary objective of our leaders is to pocket 50% of the money. We can never move forward with this. Thanks for the comment bro.
