Shymm3x: Do i need to remind you that the escalation in syria was caused by the dems in the first place? The fear of mitt Romney attack on being " soft on russia" was the reason why Obama started his " Assad must go " mantra in the first place. They were negotiating with Assad and Russia throu Annan before Obama and his team decided to blindside Koffi and insist that Assad has to go. That said, No US president will want to fully commit at this point. That is what i meant by Obama's red tape. US congress is sh1tty but please dont compare is the Russia Duma. I already agreed that Russia is taking the best approach however 1 Like |

Missy89: However, it's still the act first and think later syndrome, based on the quagmire and utter mess/destruction they have created in the country. And it'll take more than 20 years to rebuild that country - apart from the thousands of lives that have been wasted for no reason. Hilary Clinton started the Syrian adventure...I don't think it has anything to do with Romney apart from increasing the venom of the sabre rattling. The so-called Arab Spring already had Syria on its horizon, from the onset and everyone knew Syria was the next stop for US' fake kinetic humanitarian intervention after Libya. Both the US congress and Russian Duma are the same - wait till Netanyahu come to town and watch them all line behind him. 2 Likes |

Shymm3x: This is the best quote on the middle east. The Middle East is hopeless, History tells us that - Victor Petrov (House of cards Season 3) Are you telling me the Duma can challenge Putin on any bill? They usually vote unanimously apart from few domestic issues where the opposition show how crazy they are like Vladimir Zhirinovsky. Unlike the US, Do u think bibi could visit and speak at the Russian Duma without Putin's approval? US congress might be sh1tty but they do have some degree of autonomy from the executive branch 1 Like |

They have done it before, and are capable of doing it again. They funded the Taliban rebels against the Afghan govt and Russian forces in 1979 and Osama Bin Laden and the entire Al-Qaeda movement which has given birth to numerous terrorist organisations around the world, are products of that unholy alliance. I don't like the Americans for that sake. I finally gave up on them after they destroyed Iraq and Libya and turned them to terrorists breeding grounds. dammytosh: |

Missy89: If the middle east is hopeless - why not stay away from the place? But why should Bibi speak to the US congress and make them all bow down, when he isn't the POTUS? Heck, they respect him more than they respect the POTUS - that's the joke the US congress is. All they understand is money from AIPAC and bowing down to Israel. Now tell me - which of the two is more of a joke. The one that respects a next country's leader than its own, or the one that votes for its country's interests? 1 Like |

Shymm3x: Politically Hopeless. It does have economic and strategic usefulness. Thats the thing about democracy, every arm should be independent. Duma zombies respects Putin's Interest not their country's interest although they do align sometimes. The clowns on the hill do respect corporations and their disrespect for Obama has more to do with the Gop rebelling because of their traditional disrespect for Obama and their fetish for Israel. |

Missy89 I think just figured out what the "problem" with you is. Deep down, you know America is everything that is wrong with the world. But the patriotic you would only allow you admit that to an extent while attempting to demonize America's remedy (though you try very hard to be objective). Deep down, everyone is atleast a little bit patriotic to their country so I don't see any fault in you. But we all know that right now the Americans are the evil ones and Russians the good guys but you Americans that knows the truth would prefer to call Russia the "lesser evils" rather than admit that they are doing good. 2 Likes |

NaijaTalkTown: Well i will disagree. There are no good guys in geopolitics. The problem with Russia and the US as always been clash of Ideology and difference in the concept of sovereignty. Russia traditionally views states have full authority over their territories; no outside players may interfere. European countries and the U.S. adhere to a different, more recent concept, ostensibly based on humanitarian values: If a regime is hurting its citizens, it's permissible to step in. Both clearly have their own merit or demerit which ever side you decide to pick. Russia concept is more ideal for authoritarians while America and liberal Europeans will use theirs to support regime change in a less powerful nation is not playing ball. |

Missy89: So, they have to be bombed under the guise of democracy so as to exploit the economic and strategic usefulness, no? And whose interests does Putin serve if not Russian interests? Where was Russia under the drunkard Yeltsin and where is it now under Putin? Isn't it a miracle that a country that was in abyss has been taken an height they probably wouldn't have dreamt of under Yeltsin? A Russia that's now back on the world map? Please, the plutocrats and Israel run US congress - once you have money, you'd buy them over easily. It's no different from Duma...apart from the fact that Duma does Putin's wishes, while the US congress is up for sale to the highest bidder. 2 Likes 1 Share |

In case you are harbouring any lingering doubts whether these "moderate" rebels do exist in the midst of these rampaging jihadist and that perhaps Russia is targetting bonafide and "vetted" "freedom fighters" that are rebelling for a good cause against the "brutal regime" of Al-Assad, then wonder no further. See as reported by the short-shighted Western media itself: The corporate media has reported numerous instances of supposedly “vetted” CIA mercenaries cooperating with ISIS and other jihadist groups: In May The Wall Street Journal reported SRF had joined al-Qaeda in the Golan. In July Al Jazeera reported an ISIS leader as saying he purchases weapons from the FSA. In August 2014 The Washington Post said al-Nusra worked with unnamed CIA-backed rebel groups to capture the Quneitra border crossing with Israel and abduct a large number of Fijian peacekeepers. Last September Harakat Hazm reportedly fought alongside al-Qaeda in Aleppo, according to The Los Angeles Times. The same month, the SRF declared a peace truce with the Islamic State and the following month SRF members defected to ISIS. In November a number of FSA members also defected to the Islamic State and condemned US airstrikes. In December a German journalist embedded with the Islamic State told France 24 the group receives U.S. arms from the FSA. Also in December, The New York Times admitted the FSA is under the control of ISIS. In April, Reuters reported the U.S.-armed FSA is allied with al-Nusra in northern Syria. The Russians are targeting jihadists in Syria and most are supported directly and indirectly by the United States. The U.S. will continue to insist the threat in Syria is limited to ISIS and Bashar al-Assad and will argue, despite a large amount of evidence to the contrary, that the proxy war in Syria is a radical Islamist operation and there are virtually no moderate “rebels” involved in the fighting. THERE ARE NO MODERATES IN SYRIA! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise and try to ring a different narrative down your ears...THERE ARE NO MODERATES IN SYRIA! KAPISH!!!! Every f.a.r.king one of them are legitimate targets! 2 Likes |

I think Syria is the only country where Russia has its military base outside of Russia. Nevertheless, I don't think it is going to be easy for Russia. It is going to lose a hell of money and casualties at the end. |
