The only problem u' might encounter with apps is, if there's an update for an app, which is exclusively targeted at latest android os.

Yes not all Android devices receives updates and NO Android is not Android as you mentioned. There is a reason for moving up in versions ranging from security to performance.

I wonder why I'm even bothering myself about it all.

I also had no rest the first time I saw the phone and not until I bought it and tweaked the he'll out of it before I realized it was not worth it.

Thank God it was stolen and I finally found peace with first Tecno Phantom Pad II (G9), Innjoo Fire and lately Infinix Hot2. Note all devices are still working fine.
