When was the last time a northerner was made minister of finance? Bubu has continued that wicked trend.
Kemi Adeosun - Finance
Chris Ngige - Labour and Employment
Udoma Udo Udoma - Budget and National planning.
Okechukwu Enelamah - Trade, Investment and Industry.
Haba! This is blatant discrimination against the Northerners.
Is Bubu trying to say that the average abôki know nothing about money
Bubu is a wicked man!
All the Ministries that he had Southerners (as listed by you) have Northerners State Minister except finance. But,neither Interior ministry nor Defence have ANY southerner whether as Junior or substantive minister. Beside, the North have Petroleum (substantive), Water Resources(Substantive) and Agriculture(Substantive). Your argument hold no water. In case you don't know, Defence, Petroleum and Interior get the highest budget. All north!

The portfolios assigned to ministers yesterday only confirmed the fears that some of us have that Buhari appears to have a hidden agenda. In case you are not aware, be informed that President Buhari has finally moved ALL the security apparatus to the North, including the Defence and Interior/Police Affairs ministries without a space for anybody from the south.

In the FG's cabinet, there are basically THREE portfolio that is responsible for security. The three are; Defence, Interior and Police Affairs. Traditionally, the Defence ministry comes with two positions(a substantive minister and minister of state). If the substantive minister is from the north, the junior minister will always come from the south. The Interior ministry and Police Affairs ministry is also shared between the south and the north at the discretion of the President. In the event that both ministries are merged, then the region that doesn't produce the Defence Minister get the Interior minister.

President Olusegun Obasanjo Era
During Obasanjo's era, his Defence minister in his first tenure was General TY Danjuma(Taraba/North), his Defence Minister(State) was Mrs Dupe Adelaja. In his second tenure, his Defence Minister was Rabiu Kwankwaso(Kano/North), with Roland Oritsejafor (Delta/South) and later Thomas Ironsi(South) as State Defence minister.

In the Interior Ministry was Sunday Afolabi from Osun state/South(1999-2003).

Obasanjo would later split the Police Affairs Ministry from Interior Ministry. He appointed Southerner Broderick Bozimo(Delta) as Police Affairs Minister(2003-January 2007). He left the Interior Ministry for the North (Muhammed Shatta, Iyorcha Ayu and Muhammed Magaji).

A Northerner (Gen Aliyu Gusau/Zamfara) was his National Security Adviser.

President Musa Yar'adua Era
In Yaradua's Tenure, his Defence Minister was Yahale Ahmed(Bauchi/North) and later Dr Shetimma Mustapha(North) with Demola Seriki(Lagos/South) as Minister of State For Defence. His Interior Minister was Major General Godwin Abbe(Edo/South). Yaradua, would later move Abbe to Defence Ministry(2009) while Dr Shetimma Mustafa moved to interior.
The Police Affairs Ministry however remained in the North(Dr Lame).

His National security Adviser was Abdulahi Muktar(Kano)

President Ebele Jonathan's Era
Under Jonathan, his Defence Ministers Hadiru Bello and Aliyu Gasau were Northerners. To maintain balance, he had Erelu Obada(Osun/South) and Musliu Obanikoro(Lagos/South) as his Minister of State for Defence for Bello and Gusau respectively. His Interior Minister was also from the North(Abba Moro/Benue) but he left Police Affairs Minister in the South; Navy Captain Caleb Olubode(Ekiti) and Jelili Adesanyan.

His NSA were late Andrew Azaz (Bayelsa/Southi) and Sambo Dasuki (Sokoto/North)

President Buhari Moved ALL To North
Buhari however FAILED to recognise this balance in sharing of security cabinet portfolios. After merging the Police Affairs with the Interior Ministry, one naturally expect the South to get either the Interior or Defence Ministry. But Buhari pushed both Ministries to the North with Alhaji Dan Ali(Zamfara/North West) and Abdulramman Dambazau(Kano/North West) assigned to Defence and Interior(Police Affairs + Interior) ministries respectively. More troublesome is the fact that there are no positions for Minister of State for both ministries.

As it stands, we have NO Southerner in any of the security decision making cabinet organ under this APC Buhari administion. Let me explain;

The Office of National Security Adviser is in charge of DSS, NIA, DMI etc. It is occupied by Gen Muguno(North East)

The Minister of Defence oversees the Armed Forces(Army, Navy and Airforce). It is occupied by Alhaji Ali(Zamfara/North West)

The Interior minister oversees the Police Force, NSCDC, Prison Service, Immigration, Fire Service ane every other paramilitary service. It is occupied by Abdulrahman Dambazau(Kano/North West)

All three positions are domiciled in the North(2 NW and 1 NE) with no space for the South. Not even Minister of state/"Deputy" was kept for the South.

The action of Buhari-led APC government to marginalise the South from the security scheme of things in Nigeria is the height of unpatriotism, sectionalism, and should be condemned by all lovers of unity and Nigeria.

Those ministries are now useless. The TSA and zero budget will keep the decision making of this ministries solely in the hands of the President. Fashola and Amaechi are now redundant puppets. The defence ministry is the most important ministry. If the financial sector was Paramount, then by now the north would be no more.

Thank you Tonye for pointing out this fact. Most Nigerians were simply fooled by the red carrot that was dangled in front of their noses. The power works and housing nonsense made most Nigerians to close their eyes to the obvious fact. The President yesterday delivered a master stroke in his plans to usurp and destroy our democracy. Nigerians seem to forget that with the inception of the TSA and the zero budget policy has turned such juicy ministers into redundant stooges. The sack of 18 perm.secs was the icing on the cake, because the new Perm.secs will act as spies and defacto heads of the ministries. The only positions the President saw as pivotal to his plan are the defence portfolios and the oil ministry. This is the same scenario that has been playing on for decades, the north dangle the private sector in front of our noses and then opt for the gun which is the most fundamental instrument in governance.
You have spoken well. If you observe clearly, he REFUSED to appoint state minister in Defence, Interior and FCT despite the fact that these ministries have lots of loads, but he had Northern State ministers in Power, Transport, Trade and Investment and National Planning. Perhaps to check-mate the substantive ministers. He also had a Southerner to Deputise another in Niger-Delta Affairs ministry despite the fact that the ministry is overrated.

That guy is a threat to democracy

TonyeBarcanista:

There is nothing like "competence" in the appointment. Are you saying that NO southerner is competent enough to handle Interior and Defence ministries? Or you think we don't know that the Defence ministry get the highest budgetary allocation? Not even a minister of state of either ministry was created for southerners. This is in addition to the office of National Security Adviser that went to the North. Is Buhari not the one promoting sectionalism?
In the same vein, is there nobody in the north that can be made the finance minister, that made Buhari to continue the trend of his predecessors of making southerners hold that ministry?

Can we then say the economy of Nigeria has been southernized since the following ministries, finance, budget and planning, petroleum (state) as well as labour and employment, are manned by Adeosun, Udoma, Kachikwu and Ngige?

@TonyeBarcanista, were it not for differences in grammar and writing style, you'd have easily passed for FFK. You wail about anything and everything, everytime!

A good critic picks his moments, you on the other hand, have become so predictable. People on here had predicted that you'd conjure up epistles to flaw the appointments, lo and behold, you just made them seem prophetic!

Security matters are very delicate. You don't assign sensitive responsibility based only on recommendations. It's more an issue of who you know best, and can trust.

Information asymmetry may be why he didn't delegate such authority to a southerner. It may not even be regionally driven. Unless you have privy information on why he chose those people, you cannot say for sure.

I hate it when people posit on conjectures and hearsay!

If Buhari had not kept Defence and Interior ministries in the North, he would surely have needed to keep some of the juicy ones in the South which would still have made you wail beyond what you're currently doing:

Ministries in the South:
Power, Works, Housing, Health, Solid Minerals, Finance, Budget and Planning, Petroleum, Transportation, Industry, Trade and Investment, Labour and Employment, Science and Technology, Foreign Affairs, Niger Delta, and Communications.

The North only has few Class A ministties as follows: Agriculture, Education, Interior, Defence and Justice; with the rest being junior ministers.

Now, tell us which of those class A ministries in the South you would have switched with Defence and Interior to make you SHUT UP?

You're a broken record already boy.
When Amaechi will fall out of favor with the president and will then get beaten and locked up on the orders of Dambazau, you will realise what the Op is trying to point out.

As it stands, we have NO Southerner in any of the security decision making cabinet organ under this APC Buhari administion. Let me explain;

The Office of National Security Adviser is in charge of DSS, NIA, DMI etc. It is occupied by Gen Muguno(North East)

The Minister of Defence oversees the Armed Forces(Army, Navy and Airforce). It is occupied by Alhaji Ali(Zamfara/North West)

The Interior minister oversees the Police Force, NSCDC, Prison Service, Immigration, Fire Service ane every other paramilitary services.

It's obvious this your thread is uneccesary.
I criticize when I see fault in buhari govt.
Or cn we forget how gej marginalised the south-west
Sometimes it is better to observe.
GEJ never marginalised the South West. Aganga held trade and Investment, Olubode held Police Affairs and Adesina held Agric. Where is the maginalisation? He gave the SW three sweet substantive ministries. In addition to State for FCT and Defence. So what's up? And how does that negate the northernasation of the security sector by Buhari?

So non of the 17 ministers from the South were fit enough to hold either of the Defence minitry or the Interior ministry? Not even a junior minister for either portfolios. All to the North in addition to NSA. Buhari is the most sectional president ever.
You quite seem to have a template for running a 'model' government, as such I would like to leave you with an advice: start your political career and see how many lifetime it would take for you to become the president of Nigeria. Seriously, I'm at a loss as to what could be motivating you into being so mischievous to the point of being an absolute nuisance. Haba? If dem say person go die, e go just die? Those folks weren't wrong when they predicted that you'd come with yet another piece of crap.
