Buhari has so far borrowed $3b

"Let me remind you that in 5 years of the last administration, Nigeria as a whole borrowed $18 billion. That is the TOTAL government debt including the federal government, all the state governments, and local governments. It is interesting to note that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governments of Lagos, Edo, Rivers and Imo States accounted for over $8 billion in that total debt profile. All the other states and the federal government shared $10 billion in debt.

Let me remind you that at no time in 5 years of the last administration did federal civil servants not receive their salaries in the 4th week of the month and a week before any festive period, Muslim or Christian festivities. Under Buhari, federal civil servants have never received their salaries until the 2nd week of the next month.

Let me remind you that the total expenditures of the Federal Government on a monthly basis from salaries, to paying contractors and running the country is N300 billion according to the budget and the country has earned over 4 trillion in 5 months and the country is still earning money, while there is no contract awarded, no road construction. So just salaries, fuel subsidy, and traveling of the Buhari, and his few escorts , yet, your President complains of no money to pay his noisemakers-in-waiting.

Nigerians you are being deceived with the lie of “corruption” and “fighting corruption”, your President is destroying your image home and abroad by calling you corrupt and painting you as thieves, while high profile corruption is going on in his government.

It’s time to ask questions and demand accountability. Let Buhari tell us why he has borrowed such amount of money and what he used the monies received and left by the previous administration for.

"As you know, I have been honest with you since the current economic problems started. I would like to repeat: we have serious challenges, things have been tough since the beginning of the year and they are likely to remain so till the end of the year. We have serious challenges but we also have strengths and if we do the right things we can keep a steady course and emerge out of the current situation.

“As a result of the 50 per cent decline in oil revenues, the country has faced a difficult cash crunch and the Federal Government has focused on keeping the economy stable and the government running through a series of measures.

We have front-loaded the borrowing programme to manage the cash crunch in the economy."

OP, Guess who made this statement and when.

Must we always live in the past? If we said we didnt want the previous administration due to unacountability, why then should we always indulge in the incapabilities of the past to defend the wrongs of the present. If indeed, the present administration have skeletons in their cupboard. I think our past experiences should spur us into prompt action b4 we strike our feet against a stone twice. Lets assume the past administration wasted our resources. Doesnt it serve them right for beeing voted out? Are we still going to be brooding over that and award the present administration the right to continue where the past stopped? Lets always be reasonable with our comments. Am sorry to disappoint you, Jonathan failed, OK?
But Buhari with his policies looks like " the confused one".
1. The ban on small generators without an alternative or steady power supply will affect SMEs.
2. The punitive punishment on MTN will scare away foreign investors, now... am not against the fine, but then, half or a quarter will send a message " We are discipled and friendly".
3. Imagine 105 soldiers gone in one day, l guess is classified information, but is the public domain.
4. Where is rule of law, even after court has granted bail to Dasuki and Kanu, Buhari is yet to allow them there basic right.

Your opening statements alone gave you away as a very poor student of logic.

If GEJ's govt $18bn loan in only five years could be justified despite earning unprecedented billion of dollars in crude sale in those five years, common sense should tell you that a regime earning just a third of what Jona earned through crude sale will need more than double of what he borrowed.

Besides, a very large chunk of the $3bn you're talking is for settling some of the debt Jona left behind. E.g, the oil subsidy debt, workers' salary backlog, presidential fleet maintenance debt, etc.

So, next time, think deeply before you come here to spew rubbish.

You people are so shameless.
GEJ spent N743 million in 12 months on presidential fleet maitainance in 2014 and we have an expenditure of N2.6billion in 5 months for the same fleet and you are defending that.
$3 billion borrowing in 5 months with no ministers and capital projects and you people keep screaming 'fighting corruption' while corruption is ascending.

Very good points.
Have we not seen this trick before
Remember when Sanusi came to "sanitize" the banking system?
He made of a point of telling the World how corrupt the bank CEOs were, had the lives of many ruined for nothing, while he was at the same time stealing huge, gigantic, colossal sums of money in the name of community development projects.

He pocketed billions himself, pain unholy sums to his friend and in-law El_Rufai, gave 100Bilion to Kano state when Kwankwaso was planning to fight GEJ, dashed equally huge sums to universities in Sokoto, Benin, and other places controlled by his political associates.

And when he was called to defend himself, he ran to a court(a corrupt court) and obtained an injunction.
Up till today, Sanusi has never told us what he did with the stolen funds from CBN. Instead, he is better known for 'blowing the whistle on GEJ corruption, but for how he racked our economy. Now that's part 1.

Part 11: enters Buhari!

Buhari is not corrupt. Okonjo Iweala borrowed $2bn just a month before Jonathan handed over to pay her friends the fuel smugglers....sorry importers
Let me tell you the truth. 2015 was very bad for Nigeria . We were not selling much oil even at the low price. Yet PDP looted the treasury in the first four months. One of the things that delayed government was lack of money. Nigerians are not thinking well and some people are behaving like raped women falling in love with the rapist.
There are very harsh realities and everyone must get serious. The oil price this month is just under $40 a barrel. That is a disaster compared with the fact that it was $114 a barrel just a year ago. The borrowings started with PDP to pay their friends who imported fuel . That alone was $2bn. You can ask Okonjo. The APC government has to revamp refineries, sack middle and top management and give them to asset management companies to run, they need to collapse ministries and bring down the cost of governance. The public works programme must employ a lot of youths and finally new investments from India , China and Europe must be brought in.

Buhari will shoot up the foreign debt to $60 billion very soon.

Even in the best oil prices, experts have warned that foreign debt of more than $40 billion will be unsustainable and snuff out life from the Nigerian economy.

However, in spite of the warnings, Buhari will still ruin the economy so long as he borrows enough money to satisfy his political benefactors.

Wow did you actually type all of this?
1) so if you were president of nigeria and nnamdi kanu is instigating violence and calling for the purchase of weapons you will just let him go like that? I mean can nnamdi kanu or anyone do that in the usa uk belguim Russia Ghana or even south africa?
2) dasuki and all other "sick superstars" are lucky that we are even in a democracy, please people like you dislike buhari and don't see anything right in anything he does but for this dasukis case it's a NO No
3) so what if mtn is fined? Is mtn bigger than volkswagen that were fined in Germany and other countries in Europe and America did that stop people from buying volkswagen cars? If MTN goes so what? Nigeria is a hot bed for so many investors YES if they go there are a million and one other GSM companies ready to come with better offers
4) what is this nonsense fixation with useless critisism? What I expect us young people to critisize this government for are things like why do we have this fuel scarcity? What is being done about it? Why have the marketers not been paid? What is the policy on subsidy
5) this story of over 100 soldiers missing or dead raises pertinent questions it's totally different from 300girls been kidnapped from a school, everything isn't about GEJ vs PMB the elections are over!
