Uk Speaks On Nnamdi Kanu Trial by referandum(m): 6:24pm On Nov 24, 2015 |
Pro-Biafra activists recently accused the world leaders, particularly the British government, about the silence over the arrest and detention of one of their citizens, Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu was in mid-October this year arrested in Nigeria by the country’s secret police (DSS), charged to court where he was granted bail and still remains in DSS custody after meeting all bail conditions. On his own part, James Duddridge writes that Mr Kanu has been charged with illegally entering Nigeria, conspiracy to incite violence and being the leader of an illegitimate society or group. The letter reads in part: “Kanu is a dual Nigerian/British national. In cases involving dual nationals in their country of other nationality we do not usually provide consular assistance unless we judge an individual to be particular vulnerable. Following concerns raised by friends of Mr. Kanu to the Foreign and Commonwealth office, including about his well-being and ongoing medical condition, we judged it appropriate in this instance to offer assistance. “The Nigerian Authorities granted access to our consular team to visit Mr Kanu on 3 November 2015 where he is being detained in Abuja. Mr Kanu has confirmed to us that he has access to a lawyer and that he does not require the British government to make any further representations to the Nigerian Authorities on his behalf. We do, however, intend to make a further consular visit to check on his well-being.” Pro-Biafra activists have been protesting against Kanu’s detention in different states. Kanu has finally appeared before an Abuja Magistrate Court over charges bothering on alleged terrorism and sedition on Monday, November 22. The prosecution counsel clarified that the reason for Biafra leader’s continued detention in the custody of the SSS was his inability to fully meet the requirement for the bail.

The British is becoming sympathetic to the Biafran struggle and recently the US have shown that they are not too comfortable with Buhari. Buhari has not handled this Biafra issue with wisdom at all, even an Obasanjo would have done better. Nnamdi Kanu is now receiving more international attention while Buhari/Nigeria is seen as oppresors. The question I want to ask IPOB now is what exactly do you want Nigeria to do for this agitation to stop? 11 Likes 1 Share |

Just give Biafrans referendum and let them make a choice. @Eurobomber,Nigeria isn't willing to make things right and with the look of things,Buhari may be the last president of a united Nigeria. 15 Likes 1 Share |

EUROBOMBER: In the seventies, when the nigerian govt was building the now dead steel mills all over nigeria, they did not build any in the east, when they were building hundreds of dams, they did not build any in the east. How many easterners have headed the military, police, immigration, navy, customs , prison, civil defence, ministry of agric and works. Nigeria has sinned, it has the blood of three million igbos in its hands. 16 Likes 1 Share |

EUROBOMBER: The agitation is not going to stop. Water don pass garri. You people forgot when the zoo govt was only giving the igbos only ministry of information and other useless ministries, you people did it repeatedly without remorse. Have you forgotten that senator chris anyanwu was ropped into diya coup just because she published in her magazine the TSM how the nigerian govt was maltreating the igbos. Have you forgotten so soon, that during abachas regime, that he allocated only 12million for the entire roads in the south east. 7 Likes 1 Share |

The sins of successive nigerian govt against the igbos is not something that one can easily forget, in the late 1990s, when there was digitalization of nitel, the igbo states were the last that were digitalized, even though the south east only came second to lagos zone in terms of revenue generation. 10 Likes 1 Share |

It's a Catch 22 situation. Free him or not the struggle continues until And for all Igbos who choose to stand aside thinking it's a joke. Pray it doesn't catch you pant's down. What a smart man should do is pray for the best and prepare for the worst! Now for Kanu, for Biafra, we head to Lagos! Let heaven fall! 5 Likes |

The longer Nnamdi Kanu is kept out of circulation, the larger he will become in popular esteem. By being unjustly imprisoned, he is being made to walk a path walked by all the great revolutionaries of history. Every jab on him, every shove he is made to endure, is a direct and crude assault on freedom. At the moment, he is only but a prisoner of conscience, and a personable symbol of resistance. His message is timeless and of universal essence, and both history and destiny are his mistresses! His apotheosis is only but a matter of time, and then, Nnamdi's name shall be spoken with reverence and awe, so long as there exists the need to overcome the yoke of tyranny! 1 Like |
