Bottom line is you have to find a good family for the child. The adoption agreement should have a number of clauses like periodic access to the kid etc.

He's probably not ready to be a Father yet. From your own view, you assumed that OP is jobless/underemployed. Pls note that financial concern is not the only reason why people put their child up for adoption. Trust me raising a child is much more than that.
Plus am sure he didn't take the decision alone. The mother must have agreed to it because it's her child too.
