Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have killed a youth in Ofagbe community of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State. Another victim was said to be in danger list at an undisclosed hospital during a fracas that ensued between youths of the community and the Fulani herdsmen. One of the victims, who was identified as Japhtath Inibu, was a palm wine tapper. The Fulani herdsmen were said to be armed with AK-47. The incident, it was gathered, took place last Sunday morning when the herdsmen reportedly invaded farmlands in the community with their cattle for grazing. Feelers have it that the herdsmen had been constantly destroying crops and other agricultural produce in farms belonging to residents of the community. Reports said the youth, fed up with the incessant destruction of farmlands, confronted the herdsmen for allowing their animals to ruin their crops at will. The Fulani herdsmen, who did not like the confrontation, were said to have opened fire on the youth, killing one on the spot and injuring another. A councillor representing Ofagbe ward at the legislative arm of Isoko North Local Government Area, Mr. Sakardi Ichakor, confirmed the incident. As of the time of filing this report, youths in the community are said to be spoiling for a showdown even as security has been beefed up in the area. Police Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Celestina Kalu, confirmed the incident, but said that she was not aware that a life was lost to the incident. Kalu said the situation was under control as security men had been drafted to prevent breakdown of law and order.

It's high time they are faced and challenged.
Imagine the PPRO saying that she has no idea that any life was lost. Then what is the main information she got when the news got to her? That they were dancing skelewu in the farmlands abi? I dislike police.

I think it's high time the government changes their uniform color to white so that the blackness of their uniform and souls will be washed clean. So that they can be telling a little of truth.

RIP to the youth that lost his precious life.

This is the more reason we need a regional development. Some miscreants can't just be committing atrocities on another's territories unchecked

Our communities, youths, women and even the police are becoming increasingly helpless against these Fulani men. There were so many of these cases when I was serving in Cross River. The FG should do something about them. If the FG can't, governors should take drastic or proactive steps.

Buhari allows his brothers to carry guns without license and murder people and take over their lands. I am going to get my own gun soonest to balance out things. What is good for the goose should be good for the gander.

I still remember when I was still in JSS in a particular part of Oyo town called Isale-Oyo (notable for their non-compromise attitude and effective jazz). Some fulani herdsmen invaded farmlands and destroyed crops with their cattle. After some scuffles which didn't result in any settlement, the farmers went home to do what they do best. They invoked Sango on the cattle and just like film the thunder struck and killed all the cows piling them on top the other. The herdsmen had to go and meet the Seriki Hausa of the community to lead a delegation to plead on their behalf before the case was forgotten.
If there is anything the people of Isale-Oyo are good at, it's invoking thunder. There is an area there called Koso which was reported to be where Sango entered the ground. A trip there will show you different shrines dotting the landscape with lots of churches and mosques.

I have been reading stories of Fulani herdsmen killing and raping gals as well as forcefully grazing on farmlands of their victims.. What am yet to hear s an official statement from the presidency condemning this act.. Worst part is that the opposition has been sleeping on this too..

No one has called the attention of Bubu..
Or s he allowing his boys have a field day?

If this is true, the only thing I want to state is that, as long as the blood of the innocent is shed among a people, and the culprits are not brought to the books, those people, no matter who they are, will never prosper. Moreover, vengeance will come, though there be a dilatory respite time

This is madness from the fulanis, allowed to carry guns, destroy farm land, above arrest, our security operatives looking like ants before them... This is madness.

And when FFK called them tse-tse flies some children of hate and anger insulted him and poured invectives on him. They go about attacking peaceful villagers and they seem to always get the upper hand because they carry AK-47 about unhindered while the villagers are unprotected. A farmer with an ordinary shakabula will be arrested by the police for unlawful possession of firearms while the foolanis are at liberty to travel with machine guns if they like.

Northernisation of the Nigerian army was a deliberate policy that was started in the 60s to overpopulate the army with northerners so as to hold a leverage over other parts.
