The perceived lopsided appointment made by President Muhammadu Buhari seems to be far from over as indications have emerged that a cabal within the presidency led by the President’s nephew, Mamman Daura and the Chief Of Staff, Abba Kyari have perfected a plan to oust the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN],  Godwin Emefiele and replace him with Alhaji Mohd Hayatudeen from Borno State

According to investigation by 247ureports, the cabal is not comfortable with Emefiele’s leadership of the CBN largely because he hails from Delta State and is neither a northerner nor a Muslim. Also it is suspected that Emefiele may not be willing to play along to some of the activities of those within the President’s inner caucus.

Although Emefiele is entitled to a 5-year term which began in 2014, the plot by the cabal is to see him leave before the end of 2016 so as to ensure that financial dealings will be sanctioned by one of their cronies. It is also suspected that the plan is also aimed at having unlimited access to funds ahead of the 2019 election.

247ureports investigations further reveal that moves have already been set in motion towards actualizing the plot as the the Financial Reporting Council [FRC] – have hinted that the CBN governor’s performance at the seat needs review. The latest report by the FRC indicate that some displeasure with some of Emefiele’s policies.

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) of Nigeria is a federal government agency established by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria Act, No. 6, 2011. The FRC is responsible for, among other things, developing and publishing accounting and financial reporting standards to be observed in the preparation of financial statements of public entities in Nigeria; and for related matters.

According to the alleged plot, allegations of financial improprieties at the CBN under Emefiele have started making its way to public domain. The allegations of corruption are to continue until a probe is instigated which is to culminate in Emefiele’s sack.

Alhaji Mohd Hayatudeen is from Borno State just like Kyari. He is a Shuwa Arab, a people of Arab descent who the Shuwa dialect of the Arab language.

His only banking experience is a stint at the Federal Savings Bank. He belongs to the Daura/Kyari business empire – and is part investor in the many moribund business at Kakuri in Southern Kaduna.

Hayatudeen, who is a close friend to Mamman Daura was also a member of the transitional committee set up by Buhari after the 2015 presidential election which brought him into office

I have never thought the CBN Governor's policies are friendly. She comes across as someone who is just doing trial of policies.

The ongoing revelations about the Armsgate scandal is more than enough reason for the President to sack the CBN governor.

I believe by now, Emefiele should have packed his bag and ready to go. Being the CBN governor, he ought to be privy to information on how Buhari works and should know that he'd forever be an outsider in this government.
