A country with Hausas producing food, minerals and raw materials from her resources while the Yorubas use their natural and technical resources to process and export our and their agricultural products at this period when the value of oil is sinking fast, is a timely marriage made in heaven.

sad umm! In your wildest dream.

We never can say, we may have a confederation called Oduduwa /Arewa Republic. We are not like the Biafran who let emotion reason for them. We have leaders who make decisions with foresight, any arrangement that will not allow the Northerners lord it over us and will make us benefit from their immense agricultural and solid minerals deposit will be welcome. They need our port services and our technical know - how and we will get handsome payment for it. These will help us continue our march towards industrialisation just like before the greedy Aguiyi Ironsi foist the unitary government on us. Welcome to the Confederation of Oduduwa and Arewa Republic.

Queseda:

There is something in the psychological makeup of Igbos that makes them always go looking for trouble. In the calmest of circumstances they will always do something that would annoy those around them, create conflict and then live in conflict; they seem to enjoy living in conflicts.

As it were, they seem to have death wish and do things that would make those around them to attack them, and or kill them hence gratify their death wish (thanatos).

Consider their relationship with their neighbors. Invariably they would say or do something that even a child knows would irritate those neighbors and do it as if they do not know that such actions irritate people. Consider Obi Nwankanma’s concocted historiography. The man is apparently writing a history of Igbos (as gleaned from the snippets of it that he posts on the Internet). Invariably, he would make claims to the effect that Igbos stimulated what their neighbors did or he would make Igbos have credit for what other Nigerian tribes did. And he would make these self-serving bogus claims as if they are true. He is, of course, lying but presents his lies as if they are substantiated truths! The man writes history as propaganda!

Taking credit for what other tribes did diminish those tribes self-respect; they feel attacked and angry at him and by generalization at all Igbos. Thus, the man’s private behavior has negative public consequences for most Igbos, for other Nigerians who feel insulted by him (in a country where folks indulge in stereotyping behaviors, by all Igbos) attack any Igbo in sight.

And this misguided man is not the only one doing what he does; many Igbos do it. Consider their unreasoning response to Frederick Lugard and his British cohorts. Britons created what is now called Nigeria in 1914. Igbos who hitherto did not have a nation were for the first time placed under one administrative unit hence given a sense of being one people. But instead of being grateful to Lugard for hastening their sense of oneness some foolish Igbos call Nigeria Lugard’s cage; that is to say that they feel caged in a place they would rather not be in.

They flock to other parts of that Lugard’s cage to seek employment! The Yorubas allowed them to come to Lagos, a Yoruba city. Now many of them live at Lagos. Instead of expressing gratitude to their Yoruba hosts some of them now claim that Lagos is an Igbo city! Imagine that cheek!

Yorubas could feel insulted by squatters claiming ownership of their land and attack and kill a few of them and the rest of them would carry their loads on their sorry heads and march to the East. They would not even have the courage to stand and fight to death. When the going gets tough they always run to their tribal enclave.

These people routinely insult Hausas and Hausas, not being as patient as Yorubas are, often pick up their machetes and start slashing at any Igbo in sight.

These people literally ask other people to attack them and when attacked they turn around and see themselves as victims. Alas, the rest of the world does not come to their rescue!

The white man could care less if Africans murdered other Africans, if in doubt see the Sudan, Somalia and East Congo where Africans, as we speak, are butchering each other and the International community give them all the opportunity they need to get rid of themselves from the face of this earth (and leave the damn continent for animals so that white men come on wild life safaris in it).

If other Nigerians start murdering Igbos no African Union or United Nations would come to their rescue and even if they did they would send African soldiers, who are likely to be Muslims and hence participate in killing Igbos some more!

These people are not aware of the real world they live in and talk as if they are invulnerable supermen when in fact they are the most vulnerable group of Nigerians (other Nigerians hate their arrogance and could easily gang up on them and do away with them).

So why do Igbos do these crazy things when they could have peaceful relationship with their neighbors? Why do they go looking for trouble (as Fela Kuti said, trouble de sleep” iyanga” de look for am)?

Fela recognized that pride (iyanga)causes interpersonal troubles; Igbos are” inordinately proud” and out of their pride insult other folks and those folks also being “normally proud” human beings (all human beings feel proud, in degrees; the neurotic, aka narcissistic and or paranoid personality feels inordinately proud)feel degraded and attack them.

Fela was an insightful musician, not trained psychologist. There is a more psychological process at work in these people’s apparent irrational behavior. They do what they do because of their inordinate sense of inferiority.

Feeling totally inferior and wanting to seem fictionally superior to other persons they make claims that would seem to make them seem superior to other people. Those absurd claims naturally make those they belittle angry, and those attack them.

INFERIORITY FEELING

I am saying that Igbos go looking for trouble because of their sense of inferiority and paranoid level of compensatory superiority (according to Alfred Adler, all human beings feel inferior and compensate with some superiority feeling and quest for power over their world, but the neurotic over does it).

DEATH WISH (OR FREUD’S THANATOS)

It is as if these people have a death wish and must attack other people so as to generate other people’s counter attacks on them, and when attacked they feel persecuted hence feel alive. The pathological ego feels alive when persecuted!

The paranoid person feels alive when he feels attacked and is defensive; if not feeling attacked and persecuted and defensive he does not feel like he is alive!

The paranoid person has not yet learned that a person can feel even more alive by loving himself and those around him. If you want to truly feel alive do what loves other people and what serves people’s interests.

The alternative to Christian agape love for all people is the paranoid attacks on people that generate counter attack for him and he gets attacked and in defending his self feels falsely alive.

For the longest time I could not quite understand this oddity in many Igbos behavior. Finally, I understood it. They engage in their apparent self-defeating behaviors because of mental disorder. They suffer mass delusion disorder (follies adieu, aka group paranoia).

The deluded person takes his private interpretation of reality as reality. He wants to seem superior and powerful, which he is not; he imagines that he is superior and powerful; believes what is not true as true hence is deluded.

The mentally ill person is not operating in the real world; he is living in his personal world, his fantasy world where he is all powerful and invincible.

The sadist part of it all is that even if you understand the dynamics of what is going on in the deluded person’s head and tell him about it he does not get it and continues doing what he does that gives him certain results and continues to get the same results while expecting different results.

Igbos insult other people, make them angry; they get attacked and or killed. They do not want to be attacked and killed; that is, they want different results but they keep doing what generates the old results and get it. This is the definition of mental disorder: doing the same thing while expecting different results. An alcoholic keeps drinking but does not expect to damage his liver and health; poor soul; as long as he is addicted to his drug of choice he must be slowly damaging his liver, brains and killing himself even though he wishes to be healthy and live.

I know that these people are not going to change for part of mental disorder is not to see what is obvious to the normal person. The normal person, as if instinctively, recognizes that if you insult folks that they would be angry at you and that some of them would attack you, but these bizarre folks keep attacking others (by insulting them) and not expecting them to counter attack them in self-defense.

They do not know what they are doing and one is wasting one’s time trying to get them to recognize the obvious.

I suppose this is my mission: to keep stating the obvious until those who wear blinders finally remove their veil and see it; remove the mask over their eyes and see reality as it is. I will never give up on them after all they are my people, and attacks on them, even if self-brought, are attack on me (when folks begin attacking or killing Igbos they will attack or kill me, too). The sins of fathers are visited on their children’s heads. Therefore, I must keep trying to help them smell the coffee and roses.

Too much repetition of words just to make your article long is foolish, as the bible says that much repetition of words is foolishness I hereby render your article useless and foolish.

Igbos are inferior people yet they do not give a damn about your oneness in nigeria and always want Biafra, how is that possible?

Nigeria can and will go to hell One day.
What Nigeria is and has been taking out of our land,Has she gives end back?
Even better, Nigeria should get out and go away with all the baggage.
West African gas pipeline project. Who is pocketing the money. Is it not the same federal government?
An inconsequential gas project that is easily replaceable with the gas being flared off the coast of badagry and Ondo state.
When Awo was building industrial estates and investing in the future, were your leaders not busy getting drunk and conspiring to destroy the good works of the great odua nation.even today, are your leaders not busy building amusement parks and hotels?
Cannot wait to fly the flag of the independent odua states. And this will happen one day.

I was living in the core North in early 2011, in the build up to the 2011 presidential election and to my greatest surprise, I discovered that many Northerners wrongly assumed that GEJ is an Igbo man.
An educated colleague in my work place was even arguing with me that GEJ is an Igbo man but after I clearly explained to them that GEJ is an Ijaw man, she reluctantly agreed that they may be another southern tribe called Ijaw but they in the North call all of them Igbos!

Nigeria is stronger for it's high black population, which means a bigger economy and more output.

Nationalism and pride in Nigeria should be taught in schools like the Japanese do for Japan. A stronger Nigeria is a stronger West/ Central Africa and a stronger black people overall. Hence there is no reason Nigeria need split. Get over your tribal squabbling and get into the 21sr century. The Japanese stopped their tribal wars more than a 150 years ago when the British Navy came to Japanese shorwz and started bombing Japan indiscriminately, demanding fealty from the all Japanese, tribe be damned. Do you know what the Japanese did?

The Japanese tribes banded together, defended their land, bought weapons from opposing Europeans groups, learnt to build those weapons, killed the Dutch missionaries on their land and brainwashed every Japanese boy into fealty to the Japanese emperor and Empire. Death to all else. And so it goes.

Sweetguy25:
Why Yoruba's Love Nigeria

As it stands currently, the Yoruba’s are biggest beneficiaries of Nigeria. Why, you may ask? Well this is because they own (or claim to own) Lagos.

How are Yoruba’s benefiting from Nigeria by owning Lagos? This is because 90 percent of all foreign investment that comes to Nigeria goes to Lagos. Lagos is the commercial heartbeat of Nigeria. Everything important about Nigeria’s commercial sector and economy is in Lagos – From the vibrant ports, to foreign missions and embassies, to industries, multinationals, financial sector etc.

Almost all trans-border projects connecting Nigeria to other countries are connected to or only through Lagos.
For example – The West African Gas pipeline, the West African Power Pool, The Lagos to Abidjan Corridor, the West African Cable system and a host of others.

All the 5 submarine cables connected to Nigeria are connected to Lagos. In fact, even a cable linking Cameroun to Nigeria was connected only to Lagos. They skipped, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta and connected it to Lagos. (This may be due to viability reasons)

So, the south west is aware of the development that is coming to them through Lagos and they wouldn’t want to mess it up. Their ownership of Lagos has already made them dominate the organized private sector followed by Igbos. Ogun state is also becoming the most industrialized state in the country. That is why they chose to be patriotic Nigerians. Most patriotic Nigerians are Yorubas.

Why Hausa/Fulani Love Nigeria
The reason why the Hausa/Fulani and their kith and kin in the north are happy in Nigeria is obvious. After the yoruba’s/south west, the north comes next as the zone/ethnic people who benefit from Nigeria at the expense of others. They have more states, more local governments, more politicians and more civil servants but less human capital. This means Northerners get to receive more of the revenues generated by the federal government (from the Niger delta).
Due to the low human development in the northern region, they get favorable educational programs and policies funded by the federal government which is not available to other regions. The northern zone also has better road infrastructures than the southern zone. The seat of government is also located in the North, to facilitate the development of the Northern Region.

Ijaws and other ND minorities
The reasons why Ijaws and other minorities in the South South are “content being Nigerians”
Ignorance and helplessness. That’s all. The minority tribes in Nigeria’s Niger Delta generate a bulk of the country’s revenue but they’re some of the poorest people you can ever find in Africa. Most Nigerians from the west and north barely even know they exist.

[s]This thread is purely speculative[/s]

Have a nice night rest. . .

Very very accurate post OP. Kudos!

But you left out the unwritten political agreement they have. Northerner rules Nigeria then hands over to a Yoruba who eventually hands over to Northerner.
We saw how the poo hit the fan when GEJ broke the formula.

Also many blue chip companies with Yoruba CEOs have Hausa/Fulani Chairmen who hold huge shares invested in the company. This has been on since the Gowon/Awolowo indigenisation decree that allowed north and yorubas acquire shares in all the blue chip companies just after the biafran war.

I really am not surprised at how badly those two love the Nigeria of today. If na you nko?

Lets not forget that if you are from Yobe your cutoff mark for admission to school is 2 while the Anambra student has to get 139. Thats why they want to die when they hear Biafra grin

I disagree with you on comparing Japan to Nigeria. Japan is an ethnically and culturally homogenous country while Nigeria is a badly crafted colonial contraption barely 100 years old, kept together by force and designed to favour one part of the country, the North and their allies in the south west. The Japanese have been united since the beginning. of time. Their civil wars were just between Shoguns (Generals) who were struggling to rule in the name of the Emperor.

In Nigeria's case which King are all of us to swear allegiance to? That would start another problem

its a lie. Lagos has the highest crime rate in nigeria and enugu has the lowest. Do you recall when apc protesters burnt luxury buses belonging to an igbo transporter earlier this year?

If peace is the factor why are other places in SW that are more peaceful than lagos still villages?

The truth is lagos enjoys special attention from fg govt starting from colonial times till now. Should the seaport in portharcourt or onitsha stop being a subject of politics, lagos will suffer. Which is why you guys hold on to one nigeria.

Coming to leadership sw has the worst in the country save fayose. Lagos has the largest dept profile despite huge revenue, what of osun? The leadership in the east is the most visionary but seems emasculated by fg's policies and u know that.

I also heard you mentioning disposable income in Sw. That is a height of delusion! Sw is the most impoverished region aside north. Why do you thing ibadan oshgbo abeokuta are slums while enugu onitsha aba owerri ph awka and asaba are bubbling?

as for dangote, we dont beg for his investment he knows that too. He also knows he would be outcompeted hence he conspired with obj to shut down ibeto plant in ph.

Like i said politics is the thing not your so called peace. Igboland is peaceful but nigeria is an igbophobic country

How bad could it be in Iboland? Even Boko Haram victims don't run from their region as much as you do. Ever since I was born, Nyamiri have been flocking to my region in 'attachment' on your escape buses.

Imagine standing all through a 15 hour journey just to get to the North, then you turn around and try to insult the region. Pathetic.

The one that baffles me is how they insult the North yet they flock here daily packed like sardines in their escape buses.

Eze Nwata, Chisco, ABC, Young Shall Grow, Ekene Dili Chukwu etc all survive from helping their people escape to the same North they claim is backward despite complaining of being attacked.

It did not start now either, Zik was born in 1904 in Zungeru, present day Niger state. This means his parents likely lived in the North before 1900.
Same for Ojukwu who was also born in the North.

The funny thing is that they still inhabit the poorest, ramshackle part of town so I used to wonder how bad it was where they were coming from until I visited Onitsha and Abia in 2012 and 2013 respectively, it was then I understood their calamity.

Fair write up, but a little off, incomplete picture and oversimplification.

Sure, investors look at the Nigerian capital factor, but the number one factor investors think and worry about before siting their investments is safety and security of their investments. The SW remains the safest and the most peaceful, progressive and conducive place to invest in Nigeria. Other factors are availability of skilled and educated manpower and also disposable income.

Lastly, leadership and their ability to seek and drum up investments via favorable terms, trade and investment summits.

Where was this analysis when Lagos hosts trade summits every year including Ehingbeti Economic summit.

Same with Ogun trade summit, Oyo state trade summit and SWITS/SouthWest Investment Trade Summit..

Investments doesn't drop from the tree, you have to work for it..

Investors wont jump into the North, SE/SS to invest anything because of insecurity and instability.

Many questioned Dangote for not investing in the SE, but the man is obviously not regretting his actions if intentional or not after witnessing the destruction of life and property including his own trucks in the SE last week.
You forgot to add market...goods produced in Ogun if all is not sold in 20million population of lagos down south,5million population of Ibadan up north will consume it.

Also, diversity of religion....Dangote as a muslim doesn't have problem with southwest,Adenuga as a Christian doesn't have,Arab investors will find there match in southwest.vatican city,American and european investors will find there Christian match. In short, southwest is a beauty.

You are sick o. First and foremost, the Igbo people have not been the ones shouting "our Oil". You mistake South-south tribes for Igbo and that shows how shallow you are about your country. Also, do you know that the Igbo areas of Rivers state are the highest producers of crude oil in the state? Abi they are no more Igbo because northern leaders carved them into another state?
With all due respect, how can you say the north is more well off than the south? Have you checked the indices provided by UNDP? Igbo people are migrants and have been so from time immemorial. Their land is fruitful buy why struggle in your home land with others who are as dexterous as your when you can go to where there is less competition?

The reason why Lagos is Nigeria's commercial capital has little to do with it being peaceful. If it is mainly the presence of peace that makes an area develop then most of the old generation industries which set up in Lagos would have gone to the South-South as it was much more peaceful than Lagos in the 70's and 80's Yes, the institutionalized gang culture in the South-South has made some firms which should have based there to have a re-think but I feel Lagos' appeal comes from its history as a capital city and its reputation gotten from that period as conducive for investment destination. People tend to go to places already established than going to areas which might be risky.

This post clearly illustrate your shallow understanding of the history and Geography of Lagos.
1) One can infer from your post that you assume Colony of Lagos= Lagos, The Federal Capital=Lagos State but this is a big fallacy.
2) The old Federal Capital only include the present day Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Apapa, Eti-Osa and some parts of Surulere LGAs while the rest were part of Western Region, then later Lagos State.
3) Places like Ikeja, Shomolu, Oshodi-Isola, Ojoo, Agege, Alimosho, Mushin and other LGA were never part of the old Federal Capita.
4)The Colonial masters were neither interested in industrialization or development of Lagos or Nigeria as a whole and as such didn't build any industrial estate either in Ikeja, Mushin, Ilupeju (Lagos State, Agbara, Otta (Ogun State) or Oluyole Industrial estate in Oyo State.
5) With good leadership, our fathers in the Southwest pioneered development of Nigeria.
We Started
a) Free education (1955)
b) Quality free maternal and child health (1955)
c) Modern Stadium with Liberty Stadium, Ibadan (1960)
d) The first television station in Africa, Western Nigerian Television Services, WNTV, Ibadan (1959)
e) The first sky scrapper in Sub- Saharan Africa, Cocoa House,Ibadan (1964).
f) The first indigenous industrial conglomerate, the Odua group (which succeeded Western Nigerian Development Corporation, WNDC in 1976)

1. The strategic importance and development of Lagos has nothing to do with the leadership of the south westerners. Before Awolowo ruled the west, Lagos has had over four white governors. Lagos is over a 100 years old and south westerners have not led lagos for more than 40 years. That investors flock to Lagos and its neighboring states today, has very little to do with the leadership or cultures the indigenous south westerners. Like I said earlier, they flock to lagos because their market availability.
2. You should not forget that the south east was once the east, which consisted of the south east and south south.
3. A south easterner head of state was a core nationalist. He was not a tribalist like the one you had. Also he gave us a university which has educated millions of Igbos and has made the Nigerian state proud.
4. Anything that occurred from 1999 till date is null and void. The dividends of democracy has not reached any tribe except the yoruba's because of Lagos and the proximity of their states to Lagos.
5. South west leadership also lacks foresight. Adedibu is a south westerner. The development of the south west has nothing to with leadership.

You can not have patriotism in an ethnically heterogenous country. nigeria is messed up beyond repair. Except you a vulture reaping from it's carcass we must stop deceiving ourselves.

Nigeria is not a "ethnically heterogeneous country". Except in the case of the Hausa, whom are somewhat mixed with North Africa race (hence their foreign Arab religion), all Nigerian tribes are the same. Studies say Nigeria Igbo, Yoruba and other tribes are indistinguishable genetically. Nigerian ethnic differences are likened to Spaniard Catalan to average Spaniard. They're all the same people.

Even study between the average Nigerian and Ghanaian does not reveal enough DNA difference to justify an ethnic distinction. Yet I've seen some Nigerian and Ghanaian treat each other like different races. Ethnic difference like what you say is in Nigeria (and) 3&(0except in the case the Hausa) only exists in casee like between a West African and a Horner, or a West African and a North African, not Igbo and Yoruba.

Hence your assertion that "Nigerian cannot be unified because of ethnic differences" is wrong. Most of Nigeria (except parts of the North mixed with North African) is ethnically homogeneous. The differences they gave is antediluvian tribal difference, like the difference between European tribes before the Romans unified them.

In the nearest future those goods and services coming from Lagos will be pull back as a result of developmental strive and competition in the South South and South east.

LOL, spot on my sister, you said as it is; in fact I was shocked hear recently on BBC Hausa that some of them didn't budge from Borno even at the height of Boko Haram.

Pathetic.

Fire on my sister cheesy

The entire Southeast is a heap of garbage, erosion ridden landscape and bad roads. The 60Km road along Abakaliki-Afikpo road linking Abia via Okigwe and also a shortcut to Calabar via Ugep is a nightmare. The same thing on Onitsha-Awka-Enugu road Okigwe-Umuahia. Yet their Governors will feed them lies about how the North is responsible for their inability to fix these roads.

Oh my God!
Na Nyamiri road be this!
Chineke! shocked shocked
