I'm not igbo, but to be frank, when it comes to technology in Nigeria - no matter how crude it may seem, I give it up to them.
There goes an uneducated man that came up with something most graduates can't even think of where to start from.
I wish the government gives him the support he needs. Brains like this don't have to go to waste.

Fidellis Nwachukwu, from Imo State, recently displayed his prototype excavator at the Abuja international motor fair. He said he has no formal training in engineering or mechanics and that it was in fact a vision from
God that inspired him to make the excavator. .

He said: “I am truly gifted from God and I have the spirit that enlightens me on what to do. I have a lot to offer my country, my plan is to develop this excavator. We all know that Nigeria is technologically challenged, and we Nigerians and the government are ignorant about this. .

Technologies like this can bring about the improvement of our economy, that’s why I am eager to let Nigerians and the world know that we can develop our own technology. Getting in touch with the government and private investors to support my work was difficult. .

At my first visit to the House of Assembly to get my work viewed, I was accused of being a Boko Haram member and sent away. The government is supposed to see my work, especially the president, the president is like our father and I believe one day I would get the support I need.”

Nwachukwu said that he spent N200,000 on the prototype excavator and he needs N12,550,000 to buy the necessary equipment to launch full production….. sorry bro, Eze Nkita wants us to make donations to dogs instead

I don't really blame this diluted fellow, he doesn't know better.

I blame the NL asshats that are encouraging a grown man playing with a $50 toy excavator from Toys r Us.

If he really wants to do something constructive, let him go repair one of the many full size excavators that are littering the Nigerian landscape.

Oya, go ahead insult your fada, ask me to show you what I've made, etc.. grin

Sorry to say, this is bullshiit, with all due respect mr Fidelis.

Dont reinvent the wheel, i am no hater.

Nigeria needs INNOVATION, not trying to compete with oyinbo, you will never win, this piece of metal is PLAYING TO THE GALLERY.

We NEED LOCAL TECHNOLOGY TO VERY PECULIAR LOCAL NEEDS.
How about designing cheap but efficient and effective local threshers for our maize and rice farmers ?

How about moving scarecrow for rice farms to scare birds from eating up? e.t.c

Designing planes, helicopters, and excavators in a 3rd world country in 2015 is not harnessing your technology to suit pressing needs.

Your head need to be examined. All you and your ilks like to do is to criticize destructively.
What have you innovated?
It is people like you in power who kill such laudable innovations all around Nigeria. And that's why Nigeria will not move forward technologically.

Government should provide grant to such people to continue with their research.
People had built drones Nigeria albeit a prototype. Instead of wasting billions of naira in buying drones from Israel and the rest, why not call these people together and commission them to build one for Nigeria.

We are running from pillar to post begging to be sold arms and ammunition to fight BH, while we have people in Nigeria who can produce such things, but they are not encouraged due to the fact that they came from the wrong ethnic group.

Ezekiel Izuogu came with his own indigenous car, but it was suppressed, and his research was stolen by the state.

As long as people in in government and in the society have this your mind set Nigeria will not progress. You should ask yourself, why are people from the east agitating for self determination?

Good job, it's good to see people put their talent into good use but I beg to differ on this. I do not think we have to invent the wheels, this design is over a century old and has gone through various stages of improvement.
What we need to do is create an enabling environment for the likes of CAT to build similar machines in Nigeria using our available human and natural resources.

Yeaaaa we really know.
IGBOS and those agitating for BIAFRA should know that we are not doing badly as Igbos.
After all, this same TRIBE embarked on a ravaging CIVIL WAR, came out Of it still, energetic and Stronger .

This is what keeps me going as an IGBO man.
We have grown to challenge people who betrayed and oppressed us ACADEMICALLY, despite the war.
We went further to overtake many. That's why the ENVY is brewing.

We punish the EARTH by erecting edifices every corner of this country with the believe we are Nigerians, yet we are treated with disdain and levity.
A typical IGBO man is more of a true Nigerian than any other neighbour.
PLEASE, we can't afford another WAR , because some lazy dudes around are waiting patiently for another round of ABANDONED properties.
Most abandoned properties they snatched from the IGBOS have abandoned them, because IGBOS bought them all over.

PEOPLE who can't afford our BEAUTIFUL LADIES are relying on WARS to RAPE them.

First off, He's not the first to build such a "model" excavator. Even right from the 80s people, had been buidling "models" like that and taking it to motor fair for display.

Secondly students in Polytechnics and Universities build more challenging projects than this toy. Nigerian Engineering students both male and female had been building Eco-Friendly model cars for the Shell Universities competition around the globe and they have been applauded for such feet. Recently some Unilag students built a model electric car.

Thirdly, I know the urge to make this an ethnic-centric rant had made the naive OP to make a senseless post. I will advise the OP that toying this line is just eroding the little value you have. Nigerian students have gone far above all these.........

What should be our objective now his to reverse the trend of our talents and potentials overseas, bring them back home and put their skill and competence to work; not as bragging rights on NL. 19 year old son of my friend recently graduated from a top institute in Ukraine, specialising in building drones. He has mouth-watering offers from US coys and universities. I had to plead with him to come back home after his advance training in the US(hopefully he will)

Such an idiotic post, you have someone without formal education produce this, and you are saying nonsense, when the chinese started competing with the west, did they produce the same quality ? Now everyone goes to them for cheaper alternative, Nigeria bought her armed drones from them, we are also talking about buying fighter jets from them. Nigeria's proforce produces armoured vehicles today, in your own twisted way of thinking their vehicles cannot compete with those of the western world.

You can go and produce your moving scare crow and patent it, no one cares.
