Sorry my brother, this is Nigeria where talents are not encouraged neither is it supported. They called you are Boko Haram member, what do you except from myopic lawmakers who knows nothing other than their self aggrandisement. The military could also benefit from this technology, in terms of building miniature bomb defusing robots, instead of using their bare hands to excavate bombs!!! But alas "this is Nigeria"

Sorry to say, this is bullshiit, with all due respect mr Fidelis.

Dont reinvent the wheel, i am no hater.

Nigeria needs INNOVATION, not trying to compete with oyinbo, you will never win, this piece of metal is PLAYING TO THE GALLERY.

We NEED LOCAL TECHNOLOGY TO VERY PECULIAR LOCAL NEEDS.
How about designing cheap but efficient and effective local threshers for our maize and rice farmers ?

How about moving scarecrow for rice farms to scare birds from eating up? e.t.c

Designing planes, helicopters, and excavators in a 3rd world country in 2015 is not harnessing your technology to suit pressing needs.

EDIT: I expect village idiots to view this with their tribalistic lens. The shallow ones are even asking what have i built This post is for sensible individuals, and it is as constructive as it can get. lipsrsealed

Thes is not creativity or innovation. This a copy right of other countries innovation.pls come up with a new idea that can support our local economy with less cost and high quality material, but u enduP bringing a direct prototype of something that is well known to all pple not even changine the design of how the machine is. No wonder high rate of piracy always come from igbo land, is a big shame on all igbo pple and also this a new method of robbery. Demand more than twelve million to make it operational,so how much the citizine will have to wait to aquire huge amount to buy this machine. Jare better comeup with an idea that the govnment may think of building it.

I'm not buying...he probably spent the N200,000 to buy a toy excavator off AliExpress and used marker to write his trademark all over it...

There's no meaningful development to be had from guys who " have no formal training but had a vision from God" in order to build great stuff.

When he passes away (God forbid) what happens to the "vision"? Of what use is the vision if it is non-transferable and cannot be taught?

Meaningless article please...

19 year old son of my friend recently graduated from a top institute in Ukraine, specialising in building drones. He has mouth-watering offers from US coys and universities. I had to plead with him to come back home after his advance training in the US(hopefully he will)

Oga, so far what have you come up with? how many cheap threshers have you designed?. Encourage the young man biko...for him to have done this means he can do better with the right resources, environment and encouragement too. That is why the whites are better off than us, every invention or innovation is appreciated but what we do in Nigeria is to transfer our frustrations and hate on the person especially when he/she is from a different tribe or region.
. Don't mind the IDIOT. He cannot even make ordinary slippers. MUGU.

I studied industrial physics myself and I can swear with with my life that dude never constructed the excavator as he so claimed ..

in science and engineering, when you design that includes drawings with dimensions and of course material specification..
infact the guy na fraud.

I concur to your suggestions. Government should try to render help where necessary so we could improve technologically. We are lagging behind and as the giant of Africa leading by example should be our core mandate....

Nigerian students ve built modern techs and we are still importing electric bulbs and matches? Your lots can't cease to amaze me. Are u an Engineer? By the time the bombard u with ODE and PDE u'll come out from university looking for job without creativity.

OK young man, this is about putting issues in proper perspective and not some whinning about what problems abound. Do we have talented folks? Yes, and abundantly. Have they put their talent to use in Nigeria? Yes and a lot. Is that "Toy" the first "invention" in Nigeria? Hell NO!!! Is that the limit of Nigerian's talent capacity? hell NO!!!

How can you all be celebrating this "Feat" beats me, when people have done things way more challenging. Need I add that that "invention" is not novelle and probably of little use in today's technology advancement. If we talk about what should we call invention, an example is a young Notherner few years ago who built an helicopter, or the other guy from the east who built a drone.....

Because he should come an invest his talent in his fatherland? some of you are just ridiculous. So people like CEOs of Innosons, Pragmatic Technology, Yuodala, Dr. Ojei etc have had their future "destroyed" ?
