Please car gurus, I use a Toyota Avensis, and I will like to know why this light is coming on, it all started as soon as I fixed my radiator top and got it re installed. and also why does my car engine drag a bit even after servicing.

Top up the oil, the plugs might have to be changed |

EHITZ: Engine oil pressure switch is low. Engine would soon kaput, if not fixed!!! NB: Stop driving car immediately, not unless you have funds saved for a newer or replacement engine. The reason ur engine is dragging and would soon go bang. |

Had same problem once and it was caused by a dented oil sump. It is also possible that your oil pump has failed. I advice u to stop using the car and invite a mechanic to inspect the sump if it is dented or depressed. |

EHITZ: Check oil level What kind of oil filter was used If all seems ok check your oil pump. That engine would be buried soon |

Lexusgs430: Amber oil warning is low oil level, not low oil pressure, which would be red. |

Siena: And we have a winner! OP check oil dipstick, if oil is ok you can chose to diagnose fault first by checking if the oil level switch is working, it's a simple open and closed switch all you need is a multimeter set to continuity and a 14mm spanner to drain oil (or a very good jack to tilt vehicle) or you can ignore it if your oil is within safe limits on the dipstick. If you have oil, your engine is safe, it is not dying any time soon. 1 Like |

Thank you so much Gazzuz and Siena, you guys always have the answer. Unlike those of us who come here to tell us our engines will park up or kaput. As for my Engine oil and all other fluids, they are all toped up. So, it is not about my oil not been toped. I think Gazzuz has a point, the switch might have been tampered with while the radiator was been installed, and also, it could be that my filter is bad. |

EHITZ: What year model is your avensis? Your oil switch is located directly above your oil filter. It has a one wired connected. Located your oil filter first underneath your car and you would see the switch |
