We Will Ground Kogi If Faleke Is Not Declare Governor- Elect – Group by DanceVille: 7:04pm On Dec 21, 2015 |
A group, Faleke Solidarity Movement (FSM) has issued a stern warning that if James Faleke is not declared the governor-elect of Kogi state before January 10, 2016, it would ground activities in the state. Faleke group vowed to ensure that Bello is not inaugurated This warning is coming as a new government will be inaugurated on January` 27, 2016. The group issued the ultimatum in a communiqué immediately after its end-of-the-year meeting in Kabba. The FSM noted that the declaration of Yahaya Bello as the governor-elect is a miscarriage of justice, Vanguard reports. It insisted that Faleke was the right person to replace the late Prince Abubakar Audu since he contested the election on the same ticket. TheFSM’s communiqué reads: “ It is unfortunate that INEC took the path of illegality by declaring Yahaya Bello as the Governor-Elect of the state. Faleke was on the same ticket with the late Prince Abubakar Audu and they had won the election before Audu’s death. “As a group, we cannot be intimidated by the threat of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress who have shown its bias against the emergence of Faleke. A party that promises change shouldn’t be seen to be defiling the constitution with impunity. “We give INEC till January 10, 2016 to declare Faleke as Governor-Elect or we will mobilize our members across the state to occupy Lokoja until the needful is done. INEC should be prevailed upon not to plunge this nation into unimaginable crisi s.” In swift reaction, another group, Bello Support Organisation, who is loyal to governor-elect, Bello, has called on the people of the state to support Bello’s incoming administration saying that he will improve the welfare of the Kogi people. It also called on the youth of the state to resist the temptation of being used by politicians to disrupt the peace of the state. The group assured that the APC remains united front for the development of the state. “We are aware of efforts at reconciling aggrieved parties in the governorship poll in the state. These efforts must be given a chance to succeed instead of overheating the polity. The Deputy Governor-Elect is a gentleman who will not want to throw the state into crisis. We hereby call on his supporters to ensure APC remains one indivisible entity in Kogi State ,” the Bello support group said. Meanwhile, there are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress had turned its searchlight on the Igalas for a deputy governor , following the refusal of Faleke, the late Prince Abubakar Audu’s running mate in the November 21 Kogi state governorship election, to act as the deputy to governor-elec Bello.
