Ikpeazu Presents N96.7bn 2016 Budget by vivianblog(f): 9:05pm On Dec 31, 2015
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia who was sacked by a Court of Appeal in Owerri today has presented a N96.7billion budget for 2016 to the state House of Assembly for approval.
In his place, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to swear in Dr Alex Otti, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Not perturbed by the court ruling, Ikpeazu who addressed the House in Umuahia on Thursday during the budget presentation, said that the budget was 22.8 per cent less than the 2015 budget of N102.4 billion.
The governor said that the 2016 budget was anchored on the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
“Our capital expenditure is proposed to be N37.8 billion while the recurrent expenditure will be N58.9bn,” the governor said.
Ikpeazu said that “in meeting the demands of the budget, we do not desire to compound the problems of the good people of Abia”.
He said that state government would apply prudent utilisation of available resources to achieve economic development, environmental sustainability, social inclusion and quality governance.
The governor said that the state government would not rely solely on federal allocation but had determined to increase its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Ikpeazu said that the government was poised to increase its IGR by exploring the benefits of public-private partnership, creation of conducive environment for increased commercial activities and foreign investment.
Receiving the budget, the Speaker, Chief Martins Azubuike, told the governor that the house would give accelerated consideration to the bill.

Can't Lawmakers pass a bill that any one who win election must be cleared of all cases to supreme court relating to that election before been sworn in. How can someone who robbed the votes of the masses be allowed to govern ? Before he leaves he will empty the states treasury even put the state in debt.

Another PDP dummy

Abia is no longer PDP! IT is now an APGA controlled state.

The Nigerian Judiciary is gradually adjusting to leadership under Buhari

Fayose start warming up!

I congratulate Ndi Abia for the good news. Alex Otti has always been their man. I made mention of it sometime ago. Just like Alex just like Peter Obi, the case will end at the Supreme Court but justice will prevail.
Ikpeazu can present all the budgets in the world, he can do all the roads (that's the easiest thing clueless governor run and do whenever they still have cases at the tribunal) but just like Ngige, he'll definitely be shown the exit door by the Supreme Court.
God bless Alex Otti., God bless Abia State - God's own State.
From your brother from Anambra.
