There are 4 major sources of power that backs all Democratic Governance which are
a) Popular choice of the people
b) Power to make laws
c) Power to control national wealth/resources
d) Power to wield the sword

In Africa Democratic setup,

The legislative has the following powers backing it
a) Popular choice of the people
b) Power to make laws

The Executive has the following powers backing it
a) Popular choice of the people
b) Power to control national wealth/ resources
c) Power to wield the sword

The Judiciary has the following powers backing it
a) Nothing
b) Nothing
c) Nothing
d) Nothing

For this reason, court orders can be disobeyed by the Executive arm of government and the peoples rights trampled

In Africa, whenever the Executive arm of government steals the national wealth/resources or elongate its stay in power and its being questioned by its citizens , it uses the Power of the Sword to suppress all oppositions eg Nigeria and Burundi.

For this reason do I propose that for our democracy to have true separation of powers, the Power of the Sword should be taken from the Executive and placed under the control of the Judiciary and also the appointment of the Chief Justice should be abolished and given to the people to choose.

In other words, the Judiciary should have the following powers backing it

a) Popular choice of the people
b) Power to wield the Sword

With these powers under the control of the Judiciary, whenever the Executive arm of government abuse its power eg steal national wealth/resources, illegal elongation in power etc it won't be able to use the Power of the Sword to oppress peoples voice

This will also ensure that court orders are promptly obeyed

Until this is done , Africa will continue to experience impunity by the Executive arm of government leading to poor leadership which will affect African growth and development

He has two passports (Nigeria and UK), but he did not enter Nigeria with neither of the two. That one is a crime of its own. Run your mouth all you want, it will not stop Kanu from eating the poorly cooked watery beans in DSS custody.

You are the one dribbling yourself. Let me clear it for you:

1. No court has set him free of the charges he is facing (ie: declare him innocent). And the bail he was granted earlier, were for the first set of charges he was arrested for. Also note the court never barred anyone from arresting him again.

2. Kanu is now arrested the second time on a fresh set of crimes. And there is no pending bail for Kanu. If he wants to make bail now, he will start the entire bail application afresh.

We told Kanu that Aligbo needs mobilization for development and enterprise, not some disgruntled miscreants who are spreading hate on radio. We are still starting the reggae. Kanu will still be made to dance the blues as well.

If you believe the Judiciary has powers, why then are they powerless against the Executive

Why then are court orders disobeyed

Put aside your political inclinations and use that thing between your ears

The Judiciary in African Democratic setup has no true power that is why Africa should empower the Judiciary with two of these powers

a) Popular Choice of the people

b) Power to wield the Sword.
