Opposition Or Unpatriotism?

It is now a common trend on social media to see youths rejoice over little storms faced by the country. They even make it worse by wishing they escalates beyond control. Following their comments on twitter and facebook, one can easily tell what their affiliations are. To them, they are opposition to the administration of the day and see nothing wrong in doing it in the most unpatriotic manner. They believe APC made the country ungovernable for PDP led Goodluck Jonathan administration and filled the atmosphere with propaganda, so they have to pay them in kind.

Was APC the reason why EFCC couldn't carry out its duties and became a toothles bulldog? Was APC the reason boko haram ravaged on when money meant to fight them was diverted? Was APC the reason why ASUU went on strike for almost a year? APC saw the rot in the past government and cried out about it. But today's opposition is quite different from what made Nigerians vote for CHANGE. The new oppoition is all about wishing evil on the country. Below are a few of their unpatriotic oppositionism since this administration came into power.

1. The recent pipeline bombings

When news broke out that oil installations have been bombed by Niger delta militants in Delta state, they were quick to rejoice about it. Many people and even Niger deltans have come out to condemn the act cos they know what the consequence will be, but these set of unpatriotic lots who have sold their conscience are urging the militants on. They say Nigeria cannot afford to fight the militants alongside boko haram. They even boast of the sophisticated weapons these militants have and laughed at the fact that they believe the Nigeria Army stands no chance against them. Which patriotic Nigerian reasons in such manner? Does opposition include wishing for the destruction of farm lands by oil spillage due to pipeline vandalism? Does it include holding the nation to ransome?

2. Nnamdi kanu/zakzaky

The case of the above names was something the new opposition tried to latch on to just to have their voice heard. How can you flood social media with youths reeling out comments in support of a man who has been charged with treason? How can you cry fowl concerning a man caught on camera soliciting for arms and ammunition against your country Nigeria? Are you playing opposition to destroy the country or for its unity?

3. Anti-corruption fight

We all know corruption is the major problem Nigeria is facing. PDP as a party did nothing much against it; as a matter of fact, they only pretended to fight it, or how else would you explain EFCC becoming dormant after they created it? With this new administration, we have seen EFCC like we've never seen them before. It is now so unfortunate that some folks are calling for the rule of law when a single individual is tried for stealing billions from our collective wealth. Where was the rule of law when jungle justice was carried out on a petty thief for stealing food? Their action shows they don't want to see anything positive achieved in the fight against corruption.

4. State of the economy

It is so funny when someone cries that the government should do something to revive the economy but still condemns the anti-corruption fight. How can an economy grow when the corruption that brought it to its knees still thrives? Things are bad, not only in Nigeria but the world over. The South african Rand just went low against the dollar, oil price has fallen below $30 per barrel, the china market is dwindling etc, all these have their effect on Nigeria's economy. I wonder why I should log on to social media and find a lot of comments celebrating by saying Nigeria will be destroyed cos the dollar now exchanges for N305 all because they don't like President Buhari or APC.

I think it is time to drop this silly act of unpatriotism which they believe is opposition cos it can't get them anywhere. To them, they believe APC used propaganda to get to power, but below are the words of the former APC publicity secretary:

"I’ve always challenged those who called me a propagandist to come out with just one of the thousands of press interventions I have made and say ‘this is propaganda,’ ‘this is not true.’ I’ve always
challenged them."

I used to take them serious. But now I see them as silly people. Why?

Anyone who derives Joy in bad news relating to his/her country is a useless person.

As much as I derided Gej, I always felt bad for my country because at the end of the day,we are the ones who bear the brunt.

Nigerian doesn't belong to Gej,Buhari,Apc,or Pdp. It belongs to us all. They will all come and go,but Nigeria will remain.

Who killed the over a dozen promising Youth corpers?

Who said Nigeria will be ungovernable?

Who said dogs and baboons will die?

Who promised to promote sharia?

And recently..

Who brought the 97% and 5% rules?

Who told Nigerians his party members are saints?

Who presented a fake budget

as old as you are, you are still being fooled by the propaganda PDP brainwashed you with before the elections.

Opposition is not wishing your country evil and even doing it openly, cos wishing it harm is almost the same as wishing such for yourself so long you live or have relatives living in it.

People killed those corpers. But we don't know who they are, same way we don't know who killed those people that died during Rivers state elections. I don't see why anyone should see buhari as responsible for such without any evidence to prove just as gov wike can't be held responsible even though people suspect him. Or do you have an evidence? Take it to court.

Who said Nigeria will be ungovernable?

2. It was a PDP politician, Alhaji Lawal
Kaita who actually said Nigeria would
be ungovernable if Jonathan became
president in 2011.

3. It was Jonathan’s media spokesman,
Reuben Abati who sat down and largely
concocted the slanderous libel against
Buhari’s name in April 2011.

4. General Muhammadu Buhari took
Reuben Abati to court for damaging his
name.

5. The Jonathan Presidency begged
Major General Buhari to settle the case
with Reuben Abati and the Guardian
out of court.

6. General Buhari obliged and settled
out of court. Reuben Abati with The
Guardian published an unreserved
apology to Buhari in the Guardian of
11 July, 2013.

dogs and baboons is a proverb in hausa language and shouldn't be seen in its literal context.

kingdompropty:

is it a crime to promote a religious ideology especially in a region where it is believed and accepted? Did he tell you he was going to make it a nationwide thing? If muslim northerners believe in sharia, so be it as long as it doesn't disturb other nigerians.

Stop peddling the lies told to you by your silly politicians who made you believe buhari wants to islamize Nigeria and his party is an islamic party. Those politicians are now porting to the "islamic party" while you are still busy and lost in their lies.

The last trace of genuine opposition was killed by the APC during the last elections and before it.

We told the APC and its followers they were sowing seeds of eternal discord and disaffection within the polity. It's here now. The APC is simply reaping what he put into the soil.

Recall when the APC took the NA to the US for winning the war against Boko Haram? Recall how the zombies shared pictures of our soldiers who had fallen to terrorists? Too numerous to mention. No serious opposition jokes with national security; there's a limit to politics.

Notwithstanding, no serious minded Nigerian will seek to see this nation fail to meet its basic obligations to the people.

APC never sowed any seed of discord. If at all any seed was sowed, it is the seed of corruption and impunity sowed by PDP, a thing APC pointed out to Nigerians. Can you compare that to open celebration of militancy and treasonable offences? Is that how an opposition ought to conduct itself?

were there no soldier falling? Why shouldn't they do such when it was the only way those poor soldiers could remain alive when money meant to buy arms for them got diverted.

but the PDP and including are doing just that. You all think APC did thesame.

APC ran a fine opposition which capitalized on the impunity, ineptitude and corrupt practices of the past administration in the case of #Ekitigate, #OduahGate, National Assembly tear gas, Aba morro immigration scam, mission $20billion etc.

But what the PDP is doing today is quite unpatriotic; anything to get APC out.

Yes. APC ran a fine government by insulting and denigrating the office of the Presidency and other institutions. Very funny.......They will be repaid in their own coin; that's how it works. .....

The PDP is yet to find a terrific mouthpiece for a spokesperson....Metuh is even civil......When they do, it shall be fire for fire.....Patriotism has gone with the last elections.

One thing you all ought to know now is that talks without real facts can't fool Nigerians who gave mandate to the ruling party.

The directionless APC government is biting everyone really hard. It's the same way the current president will be abused and denigrated with his kindergarten errors like missing budget, partiality, weakly dosage of lies and propaganda, ......It will be tit for tat for the next couple of years and beyond.....it matters very little who occupies the Presidency; it has been desecrated and abused by our local politics.

The office of the president got messed up by GEJ who brought insults upon it and himself for his corrupt ways. Now that he's no more there, wait for PMB to show such before going all out.

Like lai Mohammed said ' it is not the duty of opposition to make governance easy for incumbent'. It is absolute patriotism to do opposition and it is good politics. The opposition must amplify the missteps and flaws of the incumbent and the incumbent does everything to reduce such. That way the dividends are delivered!!!! Sadly, this yeye govt gives a reason for criticism per day due to incompetence and ill preparedness.
