when you begin your wudu, you know that it will be used for Salah, which you can't make without it. that salah that comes first, after the wudu should at least comes to mind, at some point, before you enter it. your heart has made the intention, and there is no need for a lp and tongue intention. may Allah accepts all our intentions, ibadah, and good deeds. Amin. |

Assalamu alaikum, Sheikh Bn Baz (r.a) ws asked: Q: Is it proper to express the intention of Salat or Wudhu verbally? A: There is no proof of verbal expression of intention in the purified Shari'ah. It's bid'ah or innovated ritual that neither the Prophet (p.b.u.h) nor his Companions did. The heart is the place of intention. There is absolutely no need for expressing it verbally because Allah, the Exalted, knows the secret and what is more latent than that. He says: "Do you tell Allah about your Deen when He know what is in the heavens and the earth." (Qur'an,49:17) Allah knows best. |
