The naira is fast losing it against the dollar and other hard currencies that if nothing urgent is done to reverse the trend, we shall soon be faced with a similitude of the Zimbabwean debacle.

In the midst of these dire economic straits we have found ourselves, who then should be the go-to person in finding a solution to current quagmire?

Should it be the Finance Minister, Mrs Kemi Adeosun who appears either over-awed or utterly clueless about what should be done to arrest the imminent collapse of the economy?

Are we to look in the direction of the lame-duck CBN governor who has managed to keep his job when, for all intents and purposes, the CBN can reasonably be argued to be operating via auto-pilot?

Who can answer the call to duty of leadership at this critical time or are we headed for the precipice?

honestly speaking, if only we can remove this suspicion among the various ethnic groups and face the reality whether 5% or 95% just consider our national interest, the Igbos are more talented economically so why not look for the likes of Soludo and give him/her that sensitive ministry to handle just for the benefit of all. This is not to say other ethnic groups are not good but comparative advantage

Obasanjo will always remain a reference point in his uncanny aptitude to assemble a winning team of technocrats and high-octane performers/achievers.

Buhari is proving to be an epic failure in this regard.

Desperate times are here...

It doesn't matter who Buhari chooses as long as he isn't willing to accept what they have to say. He has already received sound advice from many sources - the IMF, the World Bank, the Economist, the Financial Times, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Charles Soludo ... the list goes on and on, yet Buhari presumes to understand economics better than all of these sources, all giving him the same advice. Even if every living Nobel Economics laureate were willing to volunteer for Buhari's brain trust, what difference would it make under such circumstances?

Buhari's ministers are just too docile.

Was Obasanjo the most pliant boss to work with? The answer is a big no.

Obasanjo's ministers made their marks because they were generally assertive people who knew their onions.

You don't move an obscure finance commissioner upstairs overnight and expect her to garner the gravitas needed to make enduring changes.
