Lola I write my comments with tears in my eyes.Nigerian doctors have mistakenly killed so many patients without even being punished for it . imagine the mistake yet they are still carrying on .I have lost a loved one through the carelessness of some ignorant fools that wear white overall coats.
Lola dont give up . justice must surely come your way. Those fake surgeons are supposed to take charge of your condition and at same time sued for damages done to her health.Luth management should be ashamed of themselves.lolas case will expose all you evil doctors in nigeria. It is well lola.i pray God to see you through in Jesus name.Amen

I don't know what is happening to our doctors these days...there is high level of professional negligence and incompetence among them. This questions the quality of their training and supervision right from university through clinicals, and residence now. There is need for people to start taking up serious legal case against them by suing them in person or their employer.

Yesterday, a colleague of mine lost her three months old baby boy to doctor's error. The hospital is in Victoria island...the painful part is, she has being waiting for 7years to have the boy and now quack doctors calling themselves professionals have sent her back to waiting mother status again.

Funmi, I pray God heal you and hope Nigerians will rise to your occasion and support you...

Nigerians with trial and error techniques

Please lets not be cynical or too hasty to judge. From her (long) story this woman has developed ACUTE KIDNEY INJURY (AKI)......a common postoperative complication. Whether her doctors failed to recognize it on time is a different issue, but in all honesty such a clinical scenario can occur in any part of the world.......especially when the patient had "hidden" kidney issues that nobody knew about.
From her story, she is bitter about how things have turned out.......l can understand why. But it MAY not be her doctors fault. I would advise her to continue with her intermittent hemodialysis and work on getting a kidney transplant ASAP.
Meanwhile, what we ALL (family/friends/co-workers/nairalanders/good Samaritans) can do is to be supportive in whatever way we can. Finger pointing is not the best solution @ this present time.

My people, let's walk this talk not only talk it. Nairaland has 1.5 million members and if only 16,000 people give N500, she'll have the N8 mill she needs for the kidneys. Nairalanders, let's do it, let's give her a chance to live. I am sending N1,000 to the account now.

We should all pray to God to save us from all these kind of doctors. It happens every where. They do cover up something like this in or not d public to here about it.
Negligence from medical personnels, crook doctors and nurses have caused many families permanent injury and death.
Just pray not to fall sick dat is d only way to escape from their slaughter slab.

Takeaways from the story

1.The woman was rushed in for an emergency CS.While she did not tell us why she had the CS......possible causes of the emergency CS could be Hypertension in pregnancy, among other causes.

2.Acute kidney injury is a common post-op complication...and that includes Caesarean sections too.

3.In my opinion, the woman had a kidney problem that was precipitated by a) what caused the doc to do an emergency CS. B) possible post-op infection....as it seems the wound did not close properly. c) immune reaction.

4.While it is sad that the woman now has a kidney issue.....I personally think it is not proper to blame the doctors for causing it. Right now...we do not have all the facts in the case. I am not defending negligence....I think that we should get more facts.

During my medical student days, a woman died on the operating table because of amniotic fluid embolism. It is a rare complication of Cesarean sections....and it just happened to strike at an unfortunate time. Doctor's fault? No.

This is really annoying.

If the case went to court....it may not be successful....because expert witnesses would state that acute kidney disease is a complication of surgery in some pregnant women.

As it stands....there is no case of ''negligence'. The only problem with this case is that they did not carry the woman along from the word go.
