The Lagos State Government has employed 1,300 teachers for public schools, warning them to be careful in their choices of pension funds administrators.

The Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Ganiyu Sopeyin, spoke on Thursday, noting that the newly employed teachers had become ‘beautiful damsels’ being wooed by different suitors.

He said, “Registering with unknown or unlicensed pension administrators can spell doom. Our newly employed teachers need to be cautious in order to safeguard their future in the state teaching service.

“Only 10 pension administrators are recognised by the Lagos State Government for now; they are Stanbic IBTC, Crusader Sterling, ARM, Trust Fund, Lead way Pension, NLPC, Premium, PAL, Fidelity and AIICO.”

He said an induction for the new teachers would soon take place to educate them on what the government expected from them.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Amode, said Nigerians must support President Muhammadu Buhari in order to win the war against corruption.
Ambode, who was represented by the Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Ganiyu Sopeyin, spoke at the Lagos Island Club’s public interest symposium on Wednesday, with the theme, ‘How to Fight and Win Corruption: Challenges and Prospects.’

“It is also important that our institutions are strengthened to sustain the capacity to identify acts of corruption and ensure that people who indulge in or benefit from such acts are made to face the wrath of the law,” he added.

Kudos to governor Ambode for this great gesture. It's very commendable to see a governor employing lots of people at a time when other state governors are struggling to pay their existing staffs.
