So there is higher probability of top class coach failing woefully in Africa if we should check some outstanding coaches that perform greatly in Africa they ain't spectacular but a dark horse coaches...

Alots of things is wrong here... It's only a determined ,hardworking coach that can survive here and also be ready to use you personally cash...

Wish him best luck... According to some report he's is the only Africa coach in sub Sahara Africa that's coaching in Europe...

Amokashi would have been on the list but got promoted in Finland as a technical adviser ... If am right
Youre so on point. mentality&resources@disposal play a big role. Thats why i'm happy at what the BIGBOSS was doing before he passed on. some foreign coaches have stayed back and got used to the African style of football, and its working. meanwhile others are just unlucky. if Mourinho comes to Africa, he and a player may fight Bruce Lee in no time

What did you think is doing magic for Rohr? Someone that have coached over three countries in Africa and they have owe him more then 9months salaries...

He knows what's on ground... And he doesn't care about the money... All he care about is proving some set of folks wrong in Nigeria... He never promised a world cup ticket but here we are 95 percent at it...

I wanted to include it in my early post.. MoU has higher probability of failing here...

Why did lasgeback refused to renew his contract after offering him over 40 thousand dollars mostly salary with FG promising to pay him directly? He knew what is at stake..

That's why I didn't care what anybody says about keshi, Rohr... And other outstanding coaches in Nigeria... Those people perform magic... Just imagine they have everything at their disposal... What will happen?

Sometimes I don't blame Nigeria coaches that collect bribe though is very bad... But how will they feed their family?

It's well with us...

Getting to the finals with a different team after 2 years tell alot about the strength in depth we have in our locker to atleast be ahead in African basketball.

Holders vs Hosts for the finals... Hmm

In Football

Nigeria became the first and Only African nation to hold the African Titles in soccer for both men's and women's football at the same time... in 2013, Nigeria won the Afcon... in 2014, Nigeria also won the AWCON... cheesy We held both titles together until the next Afcon came...

In basketball

Nigeria again (Why always us? grin ) became the first and only African nation to hold both the Male and female basketball titles.... In 2015, D'Tigers (that wicked balling class with injured Ike Diogu) conquered Africa for the first time in the men's afrobasket... in 2017, D'Tigresses won the Women's Afribasket just recently....

That saw Nigeria hold both the men's and women's title at same time too....

But Now... the men wants to extend the hold on the title... Hahahahahahahahaha.... It is not a crime to be greedy with success as there is no limits to how much you can win in life and in sports... Go for more Boys!!!!! Go D'Tigers!!!!

I admit I was not so enthusiastic with the team after they struggled in their first game against the Ivorian side... I was missing the 2015 class which had only Ike Diogu as part of this team... but these guys have risen to show that Talents indeed abound in Nigerian basketball home and abroad... wow!!!! This team that lost to DR Congo just beat Senegal.... Senegal ooooo.... chaaaiiiiii....

Tunisia go hear am.!!!!..

Tunisia are Hosts but we are basketball.... cheesy mehn.... Tunisia must fall oooo

Rohr does not worry much about salary because he is fairly comfortable without it. Most coaches are not that way. They need the money to survive.

Oliseh was always fighting with his players and making poor selections in Nigeria. Calling his brother's players to the national team was part of the problem. Nff has faults but it was not just NFF.

Nope

This tournament does not serve as a World Cup qualifier. There will be a separate qualification competition which starts next year. 5 teams will eventually represent Africa at the World Cup in China in 2019.

Just that people forget things easily ..as at early this year he was having problems with officials of the clubs which lead to some official resigning cos the way he handle things... It seems oliseh has poor management .

Remember AmajuPinnick called him Africa gardiola!

Can basketball be the 2nd most popular sport in Nigeria?

The recent successes of both D'Tigers and D'Tigress could grow the fan base of the sport in Nigeria, and attract more corporate funding for the NBBF.

Hmmmm... I think I read something about this too but passively.... I think you are right shaa... because FIBA just tweeted D'Tigers victory and said nothing about qualification for the FIBA World cup like they did with the D'Tigresses last month...

Anyway, I think they are just postponing the inevitable... grin Naija will qualify eventually... cheesy

Arsenal's Best Goal At Chelsea : Nwankwo Kanu Leads The Poll

The official website of Arsenal has asked fans to pick their best goal scored by an Arsenal player at Chelsea ahead of Sunday afternoon’s London derby at Stamford Bridge.

Nwankwo Kanu is among the five players nominated alongside Silvinho, Nigel Winterburn, Patrick Vieira and Andre Santos.

The former Nigeria international netted a memorable hat-trick against the Blues on October 23, 1999, with his solo effort in the 90th minute the most eye catching of the three goals.

As at the time of writing this report, Kanu was topping the poll with 62 percent of the votes cast, ahead of Winterburn (14% ) and Vieira (10 % ).

Andre Santos has received eight percent of the votes, while ex-Brazil left back Silvinho has garnered seven percent.

Nwankwo Kanu was acquired by Arsenal in 1999 after stops at Ajax Amsterdam and Inter Milan.

OC for FIFA Competitions approves procedures for the Final Draw of the 2018 FIFA World Cup
(FIFA.com) 14 Sep 2017
A general view of the plinths and pots containing the draw balls
The Organising Committee for FIFA Competitions, chaired by Aleksander Čeferin, met at the Home of FIFA in Zurich today, 14 September 2017. During the meeting, the committee discussed the key lessons learnt from the successful FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 and was updated about the state of preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup™.

The committee approved the procedures for the Final Draw of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in Moscow on 1 December 2017, as follows:

Allocation: All teams will be allocated to pots 1 to 4 based on sporting principles with each pot containing eight teams. This means that the October 2017 edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be used to allocate all qualified teams to the four pots according to their ranking in descending order, with the best seven teams along with hosts Russia in pot 1. The principle of drawing the teams into the groups will remain unchanged. Hence, no teams from the same confederation, with the exception of UEFA, which could have up to two teams in the same group, will be drawn into the same group.

Group formation: Eight groups of four teams will be labelled A to H: the four pots will be emptied completely by allocating one of their eight teams to each of the eight groups.

Other decisions:

- The committee approved the following tournament dates:

FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018: 12 to 22 December 2018
FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Uruguay 2018: 13 November to 1 December 2018
FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup France 2018: 5 to 24 August 2018
FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019: 7 June to 7 July 2019

- The slot allocation for the Olympic Football Tournaments Tokyo 2020 was confirmed as follows:

Men’s tournament (16 teams):

AFC: 4 (including the host)
CAF: 3
CONCACAF: 2
CONMEBOL: 2
OFC: 1
UEFA: 4
Women’s tournament (12 teams):

AFC: 3 (including the host)
CAF: 1.5
CONCACAF: 2
CONMEBOL: 1.5
OFC: 1
UEFA: 3
- The committee confirmed the decision of the Bureau for FIFA World Cup™ Qualifiers, which had ordered a replay of the qualification match between South Africa and Senegal held on 12 November 2016. This confirmation came after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld the lifetime ban of match referee Joseph Lamptey for match manipulation, the ruling imposed by the FIFA Disciplinary and Appeal Committees. The match will be replayed during the November 2017 international window, with the exact date to be confirmed in due course
fifa ranking is not best criteria for the seeding, fifa should find best procedure for the world cup draws to avoid having top teams in one group, there is a possibility of having 3 best teams in the world in one group just because of fifa ranking.
spain is not among the the top 7 which will b in pot,
so spain in pot 2,italy is not in top 15,so they will b in pot 3,even holland is in top 22.
so is possible to have group like this, BRAZIL,ITALY,SPAIN in one group,
and GERMANY,HOLLAND,FRANCE,God forbid we qualify n find ourselves in any of these group of deaths,it will b a mountain too high to climb. i pray we find ourselves in Switzerland's group, poland,or belgium. this fifa ranking sucks

Germany, Netherlands and France can't be in the same group, but any two of the aforementioned countries can be in a group. FIFA's policy goes against drawing more than 2 European teams into a group.
