I'm in my early 20s and I have two brothers. One younger and one older. My father passed on when I was 15 months old. Ever since I was a little girl, I have never had a relationship with my mother. She never taught me little things like how to put on a bra. But Instead I had to rely on my aunt to teach me "girl" things. My mother was never home, she was always going out with this older man who happens to be her friend. So I was usually home with my older brother who would find a reason to beat I and my younger brother to a pulp. My mother would usually treat my younger brother better than I. Up until this very moment, I and my my mother's relationship has been nothing more than dysfunctional. I yearn everyday for a loving and close bond with the very person that gave me life but to no avail. I have tried everything to make it work but she just happens is not interested to be close to me. I don't know how I'm supposed to scale through life like this. |

Ho! You shouldn't lose a sleep over that, she is your mother by default, no one is given the luxury of choosing hers/his. Pls, my dear, be good to her and your siblings. Family first, above everything. Ridiculous as this may sound, when asked about the older man, she may say she is following him to get money for your upkeep. Forget abt ur mother, she's not gonna change, at least not now. Perhaps when she's on her dying bed, she'll ask for forgiveness. That's how I console myself. Concentrate on ur siblings and let love and unity exist among d 3 of you. I believe ur elder bro is no more brutal as he used to be, and to some extent you have ur younger bro under control who has gone thru same travail as u have under ur mom and elder bro..so he would likely understand you. Even if ur elder bro is still stubborn, suprise him with love and gifts once in a while; that could change him But make sure there's love bond btwn u and ur younger bro; its necessary and maintain the relationship with ur aunt..if she's been loving, then she just might be of supportive guidiance to you.
