The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Nwodibo Ekechukwu, has provided fresh insight into the attack on an Enugu community by Fulani herdsmen, alleging that the attackers engaged policemen and soldiers deployed to the area in a shootout.
The CP stated this while he was debunking insinuations that the police did not act when it received information that the herdsmen were planning to attack Nimbo in Uzo-Uwani local government area of the state.
Speaking further, the Enugu police boss said the intention of the attackers was to attack the centre of the town, noting that the security forces engaged them in a shoot-out and thwarted their plan to stage a massive attack.
Ekechukwu said: “We massively deployed policemen in Uzo-uwani when we got information that the place is under threat, anyone saying we didn’t deploy sufficiently would not have been on the ground and so cannot say what happened.
“Sufficient police officers were deployed, but the community is very vast; Nimbo is in Uzo-uwani Local Government Area and it has boundaries with Ebonyi, Anambra, Benue and Kogi States.
“Our men were supported by soldiers and they prevented the attackers from coming to the centre of the community. The attack took place at the fringe of the town and my men engaged the attackers in a shoot-out and prevented them from coming to the centre of the town which was their target.”
On whether arrests have been made, the CP declined to comment, saying, “It’s an on-going thing, it’s a process, so we want to be silent on that.”

Engaged the army and police in shootout and not even one of then was gunned down or arrested.

They the army and police are useless if his claim (which i doubt) is true.

And Buhari will hear/see all this and keep quiet as if nothing is happening, Even when it was been heard all over the Nation he is yet to send his condolences, well, even if u do that now it won't bring them alive, but i tell u as u have seen it as the Head of State and keep quiet may such befall ur entire household and spare you so that u can be alive feel their pain and see how it taste

Deployed policemen to protect the town as if the herds men would have started their attack from the center and spread outward to the fringes.

A responsible way to protect the people would be to guard the boundaries and prevent attack inwards.

Nigerians supply their own power and water. By the time they supply their own protection and realize they can be their own governments, it'll be too late for all of you, from President to moronic sergeants. The revolution will not be televised.

First, the governor of the enugu state, is not only a big fool but he is also a coward. How can a governor recommend praying and fasting as a solution is this 41st century? Fulani herdsmen dey do fasting before them attack?

Secondly, the commissioner of police is a disgrace, how can u say only 5 persons died in this Internet age? Even if you had f9 in mathematics, 30 and 5 are miles apart.
And how on earth can the Nigerian police say the attack was Carried out by hoodlums? Don't they even have igbo's in the police and NA anymore? This is a perfect time to renew the call for state police

Thirdly, the community. You guys were smart enough to have Intel on the impending attack. You guy are even smart enough to know that the police wasn't willing to help, but you guy were not smart enough to look for option B. I am so disappointed. At least 10 of the marauders should have been killed.

Lastly, to to the other states in the southeast (aba and onitsha), will u guys keep waiting until they attack your states before you revenge for your brothers? With the way you rant online, I was secretly praying for the fulani herdsmen to make the ultimate mistake and attack a state in South East so tha their final end will come since obviously yoruba's have been termed coward but I was not only surprised, I was also disappointed. Pls it's not too late.. anambra and abia, revenge for your brothers. Don't wait until they attack ihiala and you will say if only they come to onitsha or they attack umuahia and you say if only they come to aba.

In summary there is need for Southern unity against this infidels before they colonize us again
