1- When the northern leaders wanted to secede from Nigeria it was the easterners led by dr. nnamdi azikiwe who begged, threatened and ultimately negotiated with the north to join Nigeria ( pre-independence movement)

2-when AG (premier western region party) threatened to secede if lagos wasn’t fully recognized as Yoruba land and capital city of Nigeria should be moved to another region (pre independence negotiations) it was the easterners who insisted on keeping lagos as fct. Thus missing the chance to move it to calabar.

3- when AG*(premier western party) proposed the inclusion of RIGHT OF SECESSION By any region in a future independent Nigeria , it was immediately criticized and rejected by the NCNC ( the premier eastern party) who then countered and ultimately proposed a tightly bound united / unitary structured constitution they even sent britain a copy of the secession proposal by th A.G terming it treasonable

4-at the beginning of Nigeria the easterners and the northerners were very close knit and jointly ruled Nigeria leaving the western region as the opposition (Western region no complain)

5- contrary to popular opinion it was the TIV people ( mostly found in benue ) who first agitated for self determination and the NCNC(east) and NPC(north) led government repeatedly sent the army there to suppress them killing thousands of tiv people.

6- the north enjoyed a good rapport with the east whilst sidelining the weST until the east became greedy and in 1966 IBO SOLDIERS killed top northern politicians whilst it is on record NO NOTABLE/POWERFUL eastern politician was killed . thus ending the political alliance and friendship between the north and east. (LET US NOT FORGET A.G LEADER AWOLOWO WAS IN JAIL AT THIS TIME ACCUSED OF TREASON)

7-it was an IBO man who led the first coup in Nigeria, it was an IBO man who was the first head of state in Nigeria, it was an IBO man who first suspended the constitution and invested all the powers in himself , it was an IBO man who abolished the then confederated form of govt and also approved policies hitherto favoured by the NCNC, the move to make all regions loose power to a central authority was fiercely protested by the northerners that is why Gowon repealed that decree.

8- Let us not forget that it is on record that MANY top politicians from the east were either born or raised in the north, this should tell you how well loved the easterners were by the north, in contrast history shows us the relations between the north and west had always been fractious example are the various wars between northern and western kingdoms in pre-colonial times.

9- As conditions for FORGIVING the death of northern and southern top politicians ironsi was told to try and execute the coup plotters but he refused thus forging the bond between the Yoruba and north who were hitherto enemies before

To my ibo brothers, when NIGERIA was "sweeting” you people you were forming boss and insisting on unity, you no let north go, you no let west go, you insisted on ONE NIGERIA.
if your leaders had the foresight of awolowo then the secession option would have been inserted into the constitution and Nigeria’s case would have been like Czechoslovakia, Serbia n Montenegro etc. but NO in your typical arrogance you forced north and west to dance to your tune, since Nigeria stopped Favoring you people after the counter-coup of july1966, you now suddenly claimed to be the WORLDS oppressed ethnic group. ANYWAY NEWSFLASH: YOU BIAFRANS ARE GOING NOWHERE
