This will help revamp them. Since the Advent of internet Nipost has lost its core functions such as letter sending, etc

Seriously misplaced priority. They should focus on improving postal delivery services with technology, completing the postal/zip code system so that every house in Nigeria can be identified with a zip code, acquiring more delivery vans, improve their customer service delivery with exceptional call center executives and "always available" help centers, and also improving their tracking systems. They can fight the competition with private firms like Fedex, and become the no 1 choice of delivery for online ordering

Just as an FYI.

US postal service is near death here and have had to reinvent.

US postal service is the only place to get your US passport.

Give these government a chance will you please.

Baba! I dont understand oh. Mbok can you explanation how NIPOST is take and be multi billion dollar chunchincheesy?

Forget my gramar, mbok am selious.

My brother, if you give NIPOST to those that know what they're doing, that enterprise can yield a minimum of N1b every month, and that's a minimum . . .. That mammoth has the network and infrastructure, and name to make over N1b every month! DHL and FedEX have roughly a combined 'sales' of over $100b (not all profit) between them last year alone.

NIPOST can replicate that or do better even.

And that's just what the courier part can do . . . not to mention other services it can render making even as little as N100 sure money on over a minimum of 20-40 million Nigerians every month!

[size=14pt]At least for once this man has said something reasonable and forward looking. Back in the US you do not all need to travel miles to the passport office or Drivers Licence Office to procure either documents. Just walk to the nearest post Office to your residence and process same. It will be mailed back to your residence saying you travelling cost and the associated risk.
Challenge how ever is with both the Drivers Licencing Office and the Passport Office who are always holding to their turf and unwilling and unyielding. This would lead no where rather makes life miserable.

Other countries have changed their postal service with the new reality and are making money while Nipost is virtually useless.

Awon ole!
If they can do this, then better for them!

You're correct, Nipost or post-office in other countries in Europe, one can do lots of things there, like sending Western-union, Money Gram, etc, but dat of their Nigerian counterpart is nothing to write home about, you post letter via Nipost today to Europe or US, it will take 4-5 months for it to arrive @ its destination, dat's if not even declared missing in transit/action grin

sincerely u cannot be more correct than this.
But I have long lost hope in the abiliy of any government to run a profitable or at least a self financing venture.
So I wud say the first step is a full privatisation of NIPOST. then the private sector can begin implementation of any wonderful idea they have. If this is not done first, NOTHING can work.

Only courier services is a multi billion naira venture sef
