United state postal service issue American passport and that makes it easy and stress free cos postal service is everywhere even the remote part. That's a good development..

It's just a way to get inroad into contract money, the new NIMC issued National Identity Cards were supposed to meet this same objective in addition to serving as ATM cards (mine was branded with Access banks' logo) but trust the Immigratons guys na, such a plan wouldn't see the light of day.

Back in the US you do not all need to travel miles to the passport office or Drivers Licence Office to procure either documents. Just walk to the nearest post Office to your residence and process same. It will be mailed back to your residence saying you travelling cost and the associated risk.

The US already has a robust and real-time data-bank that you can hardly beat. So verifying your info is a walk in the park for the officials, here however, even the immigrations officers will help you fabricate documents not at hand if you get to their office without any.
every single official has his/her own computer operator outside who will take your picture, provide guarantor's letter and do all other necessaries once you pay their stated fees. Call it value addition if you like..

they sure do, I agree with you, but with the same crop of staff they currently have, such moves will require some years of retraining as well as secondment of immigrations staff to the department and rust those ones to reestablish their age-long corrupt practices in the postal service

I think a typical NIMC national identity card takes about two years before issuance. Did mine in 2013, and got notified to come claim it in 2015.

my experience with them since I started receiving stuffs with them has been without trouble. they even called me to pick up.

This policy has been in place but has not been enforced. I paid a mandatory 1.5k each on five passports at PH NIS to have NIPOST deliver our passports but they never did.
And again, I think the correct thing to say is that NIPOST becomes the delivery body for the passports and drivers licence because NIPOST does not have the capacity (legislatively, jurisdictional and technical) to produce those documents.

Also, is it not hypocritical that a federal govt. that prefers dhl to NIPOST is talking about making NIPOST effective. For a start, why don't the govt patronise herself before selling to the public, make it mandatory that every doc. from any govt parastatal is couriered by NIPOST. Universities can have candidates admission letters delivered to them in hardcopy as they have always done before now. There are just so many things they can do to reinvent NIPOST and create jobs in all localities in the federation.

You're correct, Nipost or post-office in other countries in Europe, one can do lots of things there, like sending Western-union, Money Gram, etc, but dat of their Nigerian counterpart is nothing to write home about, you post letter via Nipost today to Europe or US, it will take 4-5 months for it to arrive @ its destination, dat's if not even declared missing in transit/action

I beg to differ. I post items to UK and US via Nipost and I've never had an incident where my item got missing in transit and the items get delivered within a week at the most. Try using registered mail or EMS to send your item; though I'll suggest you use registered mail because it is cheaper and you can also track your item till it's delivered just like that of EMS but, EMS delivery is faster.
