henryanna36:
Governor of Anambra state, Willie Obiano has come under severe criticism by residents of the commercial hub of the state, Onitsha.

Traders and residents staged a protest in the city of Onitsha against what they termed 'over taxation' by Obiano's administration. The protesters asked Gov. governor Obiano to step down or be impeached. They also accused him of "killing and milking them of their daily struggle".

Anambra state is one of the few states that are considered financially viable as it does not depend on 'bail-out' from the federal government to pay workers' salaries even at a time when not less than 26 out of the 36 states are struggling with multiple months of unpaid salaries.

This was actually at ugwuagba obosi which is where popular mgbuka obosi is located. The Street traders are actually the ones protesting. They re been extorted by Government officials in the name of taxation. It's so bad that those that runs computer centers are meant to pay 3000 each for every computer in their office not minding the faulty ones and that fact that it's Street business. They re indeed fighting a just course which the state government have to look into and hear their pleas

Does it look he has a functional brain. He doesn't have even have any so how can he contribute meaningfully to issues. Don't blame him... His brain just like using a bicycle dynamo in a range rover engine.

YES ooo. We want to trade out the loud-speaker gov of ekiti state.
focus7:
It doesn't matter. Must they protest every policy, are they not seeing the good work he's doing with the money? Obiano is the best governor at the present and the people should be ready to support him. Ekiti people will be glad to exchange Obianno for Fayose even if he will tax them of their last penny.

look well before you come here and expose your stupidity. The placard reads 'show mercy'. I don't understand why some people just decide to fuel hate. What benefits does it bring to you? I'm seriously tired of seeing all these comments against the various tribes in this country. How literate do you think you are?

How do you know there is over-taxation?
Have ALL the common needs of the people of Anambra state been met, including keeping their streets clean and roads flood free?
They should rather be protesting for COMMENSURATE service/utilities provision by their government.

I think why it look like people are taxed more is lack of harmonisation, it's high time government do something about it. If they can bring city, local government, state, and federal together and at the end of every month say if someone make so and so this will be what to pay . Let government then decide how to share like 20% for city 25% local government , 40% for state and 15% for federal. But when city come today local come tomorrow in the name of collecting taxes people will always feel the are being cheated.
