Why Dont We Igbos Appreciate Our Evergreen Musicians It baffles me our we igbos have failed in celebrations of life, awards, events to appreciate the likes of Chief Osita Osadebe Bright Chimezie ( Duke of African Music) Emeka Morocco Maduka Chief Dr. Oliver Sunday Akanite (Oliver De Coque) Oriental Brothers Chief Pericoma Okoye I stay in far away United States and I know how much goes out of my pocket heavily every weekend just so I can sit at some bar and listen to great songs like Pericoma - upper Iweka https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSlVVYQ6rkw Bright Chimezie- Adfrican Style https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vY3En7zMdQ Osondi Owendi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiZozFgBoVw Peoples Club https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tAiDzrMoEw Mbiri Ka Mbiri https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0wxvntvTXI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ldh1G12NxOc goose pimples get all over me. Its a different story back home as i rarely hear the songs of these great artist at events whenever in Nigeria compared to the South Westerners who cherish and treat the likes of King Sunny Ade and Chief Commander as Kings and gods How many youths of nowadays can boast of turntable discs of these great artists I have personally enforced on my kids to revere, cherish, appreciate and listen to these music at home and spread the knowledge and wisdom sayings in these songs wherever they are rather than these contemporary music that only preaches sex violence and women These artist those days were gods and mouth pieces of the gods compared to our modern day Pastors and Imams Lets do all that we can to spread the richness of Igbo highlife and traditional Nigerian music 56 Likes 15 Shares |

Op, i appreciate all the songs you mentioned above. There's no day I don't play any of them because they are the only meaningful songs in Nigeria, with good instrumentals and not computer genrated studio beats. 3 Likes |

Some times prophets are never recognized in their home/towns. I rest my case. Even parents no longer give their children igbo names, other tribes mostly yorubas always give their kids yoruba names and stick to it even if the same kid have nice english names. We igbos will be forming upgrade and porsh life styles speaking igbotic english to their kids instead of teaching them the basic igbo values ane cultures. We pay high bride price because we value our women and marriage institution but now so many igbos cant speak or understand igbo language. We have to go back to our roots before its too late. I rep Umuahia and Pro. Obewe home n away. 7 Likes 4 Shares |

People just come to say rubbish assertion from their bed. Here in Lagos all local bar we have here can never play music from our local artists like Wiz Kid and co, else nobody (Igbo Traders) will patronize the bar. Go to the east you hardly even hear songs from our local artist(I schooled in the east). Only Igbo Christian songs or songs from the artist you just listed OP. Personally, I don't like music coming from the likes of Wiz Kid and co. I have songs from all the artist you listed in my phone and I play them regularly. 7 Likes 1 Share |
